MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

Immigration Enforcement International works with UK and international law enforcement partners to tackle immigration crime.  The successful candidate will be directly responsible for the assessment and handling of intelligence received.  The successful candidate will have the ability to extract relevant detail from various information sources and recommend action required within set government standards.  The candidate will provide key operational and research functions in identifying organised immigration crime.

Managing and delivering day to day operational work in this role includes:

  • Identifying potential investigations to disrupt the activity of organised immigration crime groups targeting UK.
  • Supporting the decision quality of visa decision making through provision of sanitised intelligence.
  • Disseminating intelligence to key operational partners across government as well as external stakeholders such as host authorities, airlines and international bodies.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

Management of information and intelligence

  • Receipt and assessment of information received into the department.
  • Lead responsible officer for the Intelligence Management System. 
  • Conducting checks against government systems; using information to inform decision making.
  • Dissemination of information with internal and external partners.

Development, research and support of immigration crime investigations

  • Recommending packages for operational research and investigation.
  • Contributing to the development of investigations in the disruption of immigration crime.

Data collection and statistical returns

  • Manage and maintain consolidated statistical reporting.


WHAT WE DO:

Immigration Enforcement International is the overseas arm of Immigration Intelligence, Immigration Enforcement within the Home Office.  The IEI Delhi team is responsible for tackling immigration threats presented by North & West India, Nepal, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Bhutan.  IEI is committed to reducing harm to the UK in preventing illegal migration and disrupting the organised immigration crime groups operating behind it.  

WHAT WE WANT FROM YOU

The challenge with all IEI work is to deliver both the reactive elements such dealing with live enquiries as well as the pro-active elements such as intelligence assessment and research. As such staff need be able to manage challenging workloads and deliver at pace.  The role requires effective decision making, the ability to analyse complex data to draw conclusions and make recommendations and to respond flexibly to changing priorities.

  • A working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Using evidence based approach to inform decision making; gather information from a range of sources, analysis and evaluation and reaching sound conclusions in order to propose constructive solutions.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • The ability to prioritise work effectively to meet challenging deadlines.

Salary package

For British High Commission (BHC) candidates, the Local Staff BHC Terms & Conditions will apply.

For other than BHC Candidates, starting salary will be Rs 117,829/-per month plus PF allowance of 12% in lieu of provident fund and another 6% special allowance.

Overtime is available on a voluntary basis following specialist training which is paid as an out of hours on-call allowance (at approx Rs 4443/- per week).
