UKVI have identified two roles within two separate teams, which are Entry Clearance Assistants and Visa Writers. Candidates may select which role they prefer or apply for both roles. UKVI will then consider preferences and allocate roles to successful candidates based on the best fit. You must also make it clear on your application form if you have also applied for any other UKVI summer positions.

Applicants must be available to work from April to the end of September 2018. The contract period is 2 - 6 months. 

Entry Clearance Assistant (Verification Team) Main Duties:

  • Undertaking document verification checks
  • Carrying out telephone enquiries
  • Arranging visa interviews and perform interpretation during visa interviews
  • Performing other enrichment activity to support decision makers

Visa Writer Main Duties:

  • To check computer records to ensure complete visa endorsement accuracy prior to visa printing
  • To liaise clearly and effectively with colleagues and management upon identifying any problems
  • To maintain the security of the Visa Writing office
  • To follow the correct procedures relating to the issuance/revocation/cancellation of UK visas
  • To support management with administrative work as required
  • To assist in other teams as necessary

 

  • Ability to work effectively against demanding targets;
  • Ability to use initiative in solving problems;
  • Familiarity with Windows operating system and Microsoft applications;
  • A strong ability to communicate in English – both verbal and written – is required for this role.
  • Work experience in a similar environment or a similar role would be advantageous.

We offer a competitive package, which includes basic salary, good leave entitlement, and insurance plan, etc. 

The gross monthly salary (before all deductions) is RMB 8, 064/ month for Chinese nationals. A 5% bonus will be paid on completion of the full contract period.

Net conditioned working hours are 35 hours per week (excluding lunch break), five (5) working days a week with two (2) consecutive days off. It is likely that the five working days could include Saturday or Sunday. There may also be a requirement for flexible shift working between 6AM and 11PM.

No accommodation or relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position. Successful candidates will will need to pay for their own travel costs and accommodation/ living costs while in Beijing. Please ensure that you have thoroughly investigated living and working in Beijing and all related costs before submitting your application.
