The British Embassy is looking for an experienced and proactive Change Manager to work with the Corporate Services team and senior management to design and implement a number of change processes, including probable office relocation.

Good communication will be key to this job. Internal communication needs to be clear and delivered in several different ways, in order to reach as many staff as possible. You will have an important role in planning and implementing the internal communications process to ensure that staff are kept informed and consulted. You will also need to monitor the effectiveness of internal comms, ensure they have impact, and keep senior management informed of key concerns. There will be an element of cultural change, and promotion of effective working practices. Supporting staff morale through the changes is an important part of the job.

On the relocation specifically, you will need to ensure that colleagues are ready for the relocation, understand what they need to do and what support they will receive, and help them to adapt to the change in working environment. There will be a separate project manager covering the logistical and planning elements of the relocation, although you may need to get involved in the planning process to ensure that staff requirements and concerns are taken into account.

You will need to be able to communicate clearly and effectively, in English and Thai. You will be able to tailor your messages to different audiences and use a range of communications methods. You will be creative and imaginative in identifying opportunities to promote and improve internal communications.

You will have experience of change management, know techniques for facilitating consultations and discussions, and be able to summarise and explain the views of others. Good team working and interpersonal and communication skills are also essential as the jobholder will have to work with teams and senior leadership across the Embassy to ensure that internal communications support all teams to achieve their objectives. Good prioritisation and organisational skills are also important.

Understanding of organisational culture and stakeholder engagement will be an asset. 


Change management:

Plan and manage a regular rhythm of internal comms, using a range of methods (including face-to-face meetings, all-staff sessions, emails)
Plan and run consultation sessions with staff, including facilitated discussions, brainstorming sessions, etc – in order to identify and prioritise key concerns and questions, and solicit staff views
Make recommendations to senior management about how to improve change management processes


Internal communications:

Developing high quality, informative and engaging internal communications. These activities would include (but not be limited to):

  • Developing a strategic approach to internal communications: preparing and implementing a new internal communications strategy (with support from line management);
  • Working with other sections (Corporate Services, Security etc.) to develop effective communication campaigns to raise staff awareness of particular issues.
  • Developing new and innovative methods for staff in the Embassy to communicate better.

Stakeholder management:

Work with the Marketing & Comms team to develop an external comms strategy for the relocation, identifying creative approaches and key messages.


Corporate services:

Other support to senior management and Corporate Services team as appropriate, particularly on projects/initiatives with a strong comms or staff engagement component. Provide advice and support to other sections to ensure their internal comms are well-targeted, clear and effective.

The British Embassy offers a competitive remuneration package, including salary, benefits, a leave entitlement, Health Insurance and full training. The job is linked to the British Embassy’s Local Staff B3 (L) grade. For those not liable to tax, the salary will be abated.

This role will be offered on permanent basis under the locally engaged staff terms and conditions. However, the role will be time limited due to a potential British Embassy move. Should this date change, the successful applicant will be given a minimum of three months notice. 

Employment offers are subject to successful clearance of pre-employment and security checks. Staff who are locally recruited by the British Embassy are subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local employment law.

No accommodation or relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position. You must have or be able to obtain work authorisation in Thailand in order to apply.  Any costs related to obtaining or renewing permits and visas are the responsibility of the successful applicant.
