Main Purpose of the Job

  • Embassy driver to safely transport FCO staff to and from official appointments

 

Official Driver

  • Drive safely at all times and abiding by local traffic laws and regulations
  • Ensure that passengers are properly seated and wearing seatbelt/s before departure
  • Coordinate daily with the Post Security Manager for the driving schedule and any other concern relative to Embassy transports
  • Check destinations and ensure routes to and from the locations are safe and accessible (without on-going road works) and will not endanger driver and vehicle occupants
  • Be punctual, honest, courteous and well-dressed at all times
  • Undertake messengerial duties for pick up and drop off important official documents
  • Undertake VIP visit support duties
  • Properly fill up forms for overtime and other claims
  • Perform other tasks as directed by the ROSM/PSM

 

Vehicle Maintenance

  • Ensure that Embassy vehicles remain clean before and after every official trip
  • Undertake daily inspections of the Embassy vehicles focusing on brakes, lights, oil, water, air (tire pressure), gas (or fuel)
  • Report any noted defects and accidents immediately to the ROSM/PSM
  • Fuel up vehicles as per guidance (when tank is already half full) and only at designated fuel stations
  • Ensure every official trip is logged on the record book every journey signed off by or any of passengers

 

Familiarity of Metro Manila

  • Have a thorough knowledge of Metro Manila major thoroughfares and roads including those leading to the major airport terminals, VIP parking and lounges
  • Develop knowledge about the location of national and local government offices and agencies
  • Developknowledge on the locations of national and local Philippine National Police stations and precincts, and hospitals

 

Training

  • Undergo Defensive and Evasive driving course/s in UK or any location were such training is provided for regular Embassy vehicles and emergency flag car duties
  • Undergo training in First Aid & Basic Life Support
  • Undergo training on vehicle trouble shooting

 

Others

  • Have basic computer knowledge at least in MS Word and Excel and use of the internet for e-learning courses and other FCO net services
  • Valid driving licence (at least for light manual and automatic vehicles)
  • No criminal record (need to submit a valid NBI clearance)
  • Sound knowledge of Metro Manila
  • Basic car maintenance knowledge
  • Basic IT skills required
