Main purpose of job:

     

  • The post holder will be expected to function as a generator technician dealing with day to day workload within the Technical works Group.

Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?

  • Ensure efficient and effective maintenance services of all Generator sets (Including servicing, troubleshooting, fault finding and repairs) across the BDHC Lagos estate to ensure the safety, reliability and operational effectiveness of all generators and control systems in compliance with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) Health and Safety (H&S) requirements practices and procedures
  • Ensure that all generators and control systems are kept in good order and are regularly inspected and maintained in accordance with health and safety requirements and are fully compliant with FCO Standards.
  • Daily Inspect generators to identify faults, maintain, service, replace parts and repair official generators as directed in accordance with the manufacturer recommendations and schedule
  • Provide emergency call out services for generators across the BDHC Lagos estate.
  • Working beyond official hours as and when required
  • Carry out any other duties as assigned by Estates Foreman.
  • Perform all planned Preventative Maintenance (Electrical and Mechanical) of all BDHC Lagos Estates generator sets
  • Qualified (City and Guilds or equivalent) service engineer capable of working on generators up to 500KVA
  • Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience in fault-finding and servicing of FG Wilson diesel engines and generator sets.
  • Professionally trained in: Mechanical engineering, power electronics systems, mechatronic engineering.
  • Technical understanding of synchronised control systems
  • At least an expert knowledge of FG Wilson Generators especially; 2X06 Electronics Engines, 6000 Series control system, Analogue Control system, ATi/CTi Changeover system, Leroy Somers Alternators, Power Wizards Control System
  • Excellent fault finding and diagnostic skills.
  • Understanding of UK Health & Safety regulations
  • Manual handling experience and working with automatic refuelling systems.
  • Excellent communication skills with a flexible, adaptable approach to working.
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure without supervision and as a team
  • Ability to interact well with superiors and subordinates professionally.
  • Evidence of Health and Safety Training
  • Ability to drive
