The British Embassy, Muscat has vacancy for the post of a Locally Engaged Assistant Programme Officer. The contract for this position will start on September 2016 and will end on March 2017 with possible extension depending on the project.

Objective:


To assist the projects officer in managing, developing and implementing UK programmes in Oman. This includes reporting, overseeing programme finances and liaising with international partners and local stakeholders.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• To support the C4 (L) Political/Projects Officer in obtaining, developing and delivering a portfolio of CSSF projects.

• To liaise with the CSSF team in Bahrain with regard to project work.

• Work with international partners to identify and develop new projects. Provide advice to potential  implementers on submitting  project bids, quality assuring project documents including budgets before submission to Boards

• Liaise with implementing partners to agree contracts, payment schedules and effective systems for project monitoring and evaluation. Identifying and recommending corrective action as required

• To compile financial, monitoring and evaluation project information for submission to London in accordance with UK Government rules and regulations.

• Prepare and submit monthly financial and quarterly narrative and financial reports for Embassy projects by managing and maintaining accurate spreadsheets and project files in hard and soft copies.

• Requisitioning, receipting and housekeeping (training will be provided)

• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.

• Experience of financial management.

• Strong team working skills.
• Spoken and written Arabic is desirable but not essential.

Working Conditions and Remuneration:

The Embassy offers an attractive working environment and remuneration package for the role, including: salary of 575 Omani Riyals per month inclusive of all allowances; recreational facilities including a swimming pool and social club.

Normal working hours are 07:30 – 14:30 Sunday to Thursday.  Position holder should be flexible in their approach to hours worked as these will be dictated by operational needs and may involve working out of hours.
