The British Embassy in Tehran invites applications for the position of a Mover/Cleaner to start as soon as possible.

Main Purpose of Job:

Understanding and adhering to Foreign and Commonwealth Development Office’s health and safety standards in moving, disassembling, assembling, arranging and storing furniture and other equipment for residential and non-residential properties on both British Embassy compounds. Also, cleaning duties responsible for all basic cleaning in and around office buildings and residential properties.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Disassembling, moving, and assembling/re-assembling furniture, white goods and other equipment for residential housing and non-residential properties including offices and storage facilities in both British Embassy compounds—this includes placing new items into houses and removal of old items, as well as moving items within the property as requested.
  • Cleaning tasks such as dusting, mopping, sweeping floors, cleaning windows and vacuuming. Cleans restrooms, including restocking dispensers, emptying trash, cleaning and sanitizing fixtures. General cleaning of the staff kitchen areas and sanitizing of the kitchen work surfaces.
  • Arranging items in storage facilities and ensuring storage facilities are organized and tidy.
  • Assisting other departments/sections such as Technical Works Services and Residence Team with removals.
  • Arranging and placing furniture and equipment for all functions such as official receptions and staff events.
  • Arranging items such as office furniture and household furniture among other items allocated for sales and auctions.
  • Miscellaneous shopping and delivery/stocking/organization of items such as cleaning supplies to the storage facility.
  • Performing all loading and unloading of transport vehicles while ensuring FCDO health and safety standards are met.
  • Attending to all rubbish removal from properties, spot checking all properties to remove debris / rubbish.
  • Delivering linen / housekeeping items and collections, including laundry and ironing.

  • Must at least have a high school diploma
  • Minimum 3-5 years previous work experience as a cleaner and/or
  • 3 years previous work experience as a mover
  • Basic knowledge of English
  • Previous work experience in an international company, embassy or NGO

Working Hours and Remuneration:

The Embassy aims to offer an attractive working environment and remuneration package for this role.

The salary is USD 1,143.64 (converted and paid in Iranian Rials at the market exchange rate) per month, and leave entitlement of 26 working days per year.

Conditioned working hours are 42 hours per week. Working hours are from 07:30 to 17:00 from Sunday to Wednesday, and Thursday from 07:30 to 13:00.

English Language Training provided by the Embassy.

Eligibility:

Applicants must have permission to reside and work in the Islamic Republic of Iran.
