The Department for International Trade (DIT) supports UK-based businesses to export globally, facilitates inward investment from overseas companies and is responsible for developing trade policy and negotiating free trade agreements. 

 

The GREAT Campaign is the British Government’s most ambitious international marketing campaign to date, showcasing the very best of what Britain has to offer in order to encourage the world to visit, study in and do business with the UK.

 

The Head of Marketing Campaigns will lead on strategic planning of the Embassy’s GREAT campaign in Korea, as well as delivering DIT marketing activity. They will work with the Embassy’s Media & Public Affairs team to achieve DIT communications goals as we move towards the UK’s exit from the European Union. They will drive change and ensure marketing and communications are at the forefront of DIT and British government planning, events and strategy.

 

The role is operational as well as strategic, and will lead on reporting and liaising with Asia-Pacific Marketing Hub (in Hong Kong), DIT HQ in London, and delivery of major events, as well as managing resource for delivery of DIT collateral, events and activities.

 

Lead and coordinate GREAT campaign at post and with HQ – 25%

  • Ensure that Embassy staff and key stakeholders are engaged with the GREAT Campaign and that the campaign is featured prominently across Embassy events and channels. 
  • Keep abreast of the central GREAT trade and investment campaign plans; coordinate the adaptation of the campaign locally as well as the translation/production of collateral material. Lead on GREAT Campaign Fund (GCF) planning, strategy and bidding, including budgetary oversight, drafting and clearance of bids, ensuring a strong return on investment. 
  • Liaise closely with GREAT and marketing teams in Hong Kong and HQ, ensuring Korea is well aware of new developments and lobby for Korea to be well represented in campaign planning and allocation of funds.

 

DIT marketing and sector communications – 25%

  • Oversight of DIT communications goals for both Korean and UK audiences – success stories, PR, top line messaging and work with DIT/MPA to spread these.
  • Coordinate and help plan integrated marketing & communications for all High Value Campaigns and occasionally other sectors.
  • Champion and coordinate an engaging trade and investment narrative on social media channels throughout the year.
  • Keep post in line and up to date with DIT communications and marketing policy.
  • Coordinate media buying, ensuring adherence to procurement rules. 

 

GREAT Challenge Fund (GCF) campaign delivery and GCF budget management – 20%

  • Work with heads of campaigns to track and monitor delivery of GCF campaigns.
  • Lead on specific marketing elements of GCF projects; monitoring and reporting on progress.
  • Work with DIT/MPA/others on delivery and ensuring consistency with GCF bids and campaigns.
  • Lead on partnerships with external and internal stakeholders; working with private sector companies on sponsorship deals and securing support for the GREAT activities in the Korean market.

 

Branding and event management – 20%

  • Work closely with GREAT officer in ensuring well organised marketing events and DIT events – ensuring integrity and reputation of GREAT brand.
  • Manage contracts for printing, events, marketing, media and ensuring adherence to procurement guidelines.
  • Drive change in events to follow HQ guidance – fewer, bigger, better and more digitally integrated.
  • Spot collateral and cost savings.

 

Management and corporate – 10%

  • Manage 1 A2 officer.
  • Manage team’s workload and commitments.
  • Contribute to wider Embassy objectives, including crisis preparation.
  • Marketing background, preferably Business-to-Business
  • Strong Programme management skills, particularly project planning, event management, tracking and evaluation
  • Experience of implementing a global campaign strategy at local level
  • Experience working with PR, Marketing and events agencies, especially in Korea
  • Experience of delivering high profile events with VIPs
  • English language
  • Understanding of Korean business audiences and media
  • Experience in social media/content marketing
  • Branding and design experience
  • Skills with Photoshop, InDesign and other digital tools
  • Speech writing and presentation experience
  • Korean language
