View Vacancy - Corporate Support Officer
The British Embassy in Rabat invites applications for the position of Corporate Support Officer, job grade Executive Officer (EO).
The Department for International Trade (DIT) Africa is one of nine international regions and is led by Her Majesty’s Trade Commissioner. The Department’s role is to increase prosperity in the UK and overseas through increasing trade and investment. The Trade Commissioner’s role is to lead the pan-African trade and investment team to increase the value of the commercial relationship between Africa and the UK.
The Africa Region is exciting and energising and UK firms have a strong presence here, making the UK the second largest foreign investor on the continent. With some of the fastest growing economies in the world and booming population growth there are numerous more opportunities for UK firms; from tech start-ups in the West to infrastructure in the East and everything in between. The DIT Network’s role is to promote these opportunities to UK businesses and position the UK as a key trading partner.
We are looking for a Corporate Support Officer, to work within the wider DIT Africa Hub team based in Morocco and efficiently manage the Deputy Trade Commissioner’s schedule and activities, lead on key sectoral objectives supporting the DIT Africa Head of Exports in the delivery and analysis of key sector related as well as providing support to the wider DIT Africa Network. The role will be varied and fast paced; requiring the job holder to demonstrate skills across planning, writing and verbal communications. S/he will need to be able to undertake multiple tasks concurrently and priorities.
Roles and responsibilities:
Personal Assistant 60%
- You will monitor and organise the Deputy Trade Commissioner’s workflow, filtering and prioritising demands on his time and attention, ensuring important/urgent work is actioned or delegated appropriately (including in their absence). You will ensure deadlines are kept, commissioning briefing/papers for meetings and booking travel. You will ensure the efficient running of his office, working closely with senior management and the regional operations hub
- Proactively engage all stakeholders and act as first point of contact for all queries received on behalf of HMDTC.
- Provide client facing support for all enquiries; ensure that all correspondence is dealt with timeously and efficiently. Build and maintain strong relationships with the executive leadership and respective posts to collectively drive forward work, understand risks and help operationally deliver, ensuring that information is recorded and communicated correctly.
- Provide secretariat duties for HMDTC’s key engagements and meetings.
- Form a key flexible and adaptable member of the Africa Network Provide support to the wider DIT Africa network as requested
Exports Support 40%
- You will work closely with the Head of Exports to drive the implementation of a pan-Africa sector plan focussed on outcomes and with clear priorities, goals, milestones and deliverables and drive closer teamwork with our sector teams, helping them to understand and access expertise on UK capability. You will ensure our pipeline of key projects reflects key upcoming opportunities, working with our country and sector teams to do this. You will help drive teamwork, drawing on your inputs and research, to ensure all members of our pan-Africa sector team are working in close alignment.
- Support the Head of Exports: Providing executive and administrative support to the DIT Africa Head of Exports, assisting with sector related activities, meetings and events.
- Maintain accurate and up to date data management by regularly tracking, evaluating and reporting on outcomes of sector activities.
- Maintain and update a succinct database of all sector pipeline deals across the Africa region
- Provide key analysis and research pertaining to sector performance and deal generation
- Establish key stakeholder relationships and support the Head of Exports and wider events team in the organisation and delivery of sector events across Africa, keeping overall sector events programmes up to date and well organised

- Experience of working with Government departments and/or public-sector agencies.
- Experience working in a similar administrative role in the field of trade and investment.

Working hours and remuneration:
The Embassy aims to offer an attractive working environment and remuneration package for this role, including a non-negotiable gross salary of MAD 23,446 per month, inclusive of all allowances. However, employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary may have their salaries reduced by the equivalent local income tax amount.
The package includes a good level of medical insurance; 21 days of annual leave (on pro rata basis) plus 14 public holidays; access to on-site swimming pool, tennis court and gym facilities. There are no other allowances payable as part of this package. No accommodation and relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position.
The contract will be for a full-time employment, on a permanent basis subject to three (3) months’ probation period initially and can be extended up to another three (3) months.
Conditioned working hours for this position are 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Normal office hours are from Monday-Thursday, 0800-1615 and Friday 0800-1300. The Embassy encourages flexible working subject to operational need and line manager’s approval. Independent working will be tested as a competence in interviews.
You will be expected to undertake occasional travel to the UK and across Africa.
