The British Embassy in Rabat invites applications for the position of Security Assistant, Grade A2 (L) to start as soon as possible.

The post will form a part of the UK’s enhancement of its security cooperation with Morocco on both counter-terrorism (CT) and counter violent extremism (CVE).

Main purpose of the job:

The post will form part of the UK’s enhancement of its security cooperation in Morocco. Working with a team of security specialists from across UK Government, the role will support the British Embassy’s Security platform and ensure all activity is aligned to UK strategic aims and is fully coordinated with the Moroccan Government.

This is a busy and interesting role in the Embassy, which we are looking to fill with an individual who is a team player and willing to adapt to the requirements of the position. The successful candidate must have an eye for details, be flexible and well organised, to balance the dynamic needs of the team, whilst maintaining accurate records. There is a requirement for occasional travel within Morocco (which may entail weekend or evening working or overnight stays for training events) and potential for overseas visits to accompany regional visitors to the UK and deliver training and seminars in other countries.

Main duties and responsibilities:

On taking up his/her responsibilities, the successful candidate will:

• Be responsible for budget management including forecasting and maintaining accurate records of financial expenditure to a standard that satisfies UK government auditors

• Be involved in programme management including effective monitoring and evaluation techniques to ensure the programme stays on track

• Work extensively with other staff and external contacts, there will be regular contact with international local civil society and government counterparts

• Develop and maintain databases and filling systems on relevant security issues, using IT packages inclusing MS Office, Word, Powerpoint and Excel

• Maintain and update records of various UK Government reports and notify changes to appropriate bodies in Morocco and the region

• Organise security related visit programme and events, including arranging visas, travel and accommodation bookings etc

• Organise and attend meetings with members of the security team, compiling minutes and detailing agreed actions

• Be an all-round administrative assistant; dealing with general mail, telephone and email enquiries; running the day-to-day office operation, and drafting and typing correspondence and reports

Delivering at Pace: Effectiveness in this area means focusing on delivering timely performance with energy and taking responsibility and accountability for quality outcomes.

• Strong English and French language skill, both oral and written

• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks and work to deadlines

• Strong interpersonal skills, flexibility and the ability to work well independently and as part of a small team

• Good oral and written communications skills and a high standard of IT literacy, particulary with MS Office products

• The successful applicant will be required to obtain security clearance

• Ability to communicate in Arabic

• Experience working with an international institution

• An understanding of counter-terrorism activity and security arrangements

Working Hours and Remuneration:

The Embassy aims to offer an attractive working environment and remuneration package for this role, including: gross salary of MAD 13,639 per month, inclusive of all allowances. The contract will be a Full Time, Fixed Term for two years.

Conditioned working hours for the position are 38 hours per week Monday to Friday.

Must have right to live and work in Morocco.
