The British Embassy in Moscow is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking for a Project Officer to assist in the management of program funding for projects to support the UK’s foreign policy objectives.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Manage program bidding process and delivery of projects including day-to-day project management: monitoring project budgets and progress towards objectives, preparing quarterly reports, and conducting financial operations in line with FCO financial guidelines;
  • Monitoring and evaluation of projects throughout the year and at completion, including through attendance at project activities and events. Ensure programme and quarterly reporting received and completed by deadline;
  • Manage stakeholder relationships: provide effective two-way communication through regular dialogue and meetings with project partners. Build and maintain a network of contacts in the field of human rights and civil society. Proactively engaging with current and potential project partners, and the wider non-governmental organisations and donor community;
  • Support the wider Embassy through providing reporting and analysis on significant news that might impact on project delivery and wider Embassy objectives;
  • With colleagues in the Embassy’s policy sections, the jobholder will work on the management of programme funding for projects in Russia.
  • Proficiency in English and Russian (both oral and written);
  • Experience in programme management (preferably with international or donor organisation);
  • Computer literacy, including Excel;
  • Good interpersonal skills for engagement with project partners, customers, and colleagues involved with programme work in the Embassy and London;
  • Excellent time management and people skills.
  • Basic knowledge of accounting or financial management;
  • Knowledge and experience of human rights and civil society issues would be an advantage.

This is a full-time temporary position, for 5 working days, 35 hours net per week, for the period of a maternity cover.

The monthly salary for this position is Rub 91,705 gross, B3 (L) level, paid 13 times a year.

The successful candidate will be subject to professional background check and security clearance.

All applicants  should have a pre-existing legal status to live and work in Russia. The British Embassy does not facilitate/sponsor visa applications and work permits.

Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in Russia is subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local Russian employment law.
