The ICT/Administrative Analyst will have the responsibility of effectively dealing with the day to day IT and related administrative operational issues providing general support to users on the available ICT systems and administrative processes. The successful candidate will efficiently support the Brazil Network Corporate Services team to deliver its objectives in the Embassy and Consulates. He/she will work closely with and support and be supported by the other members of the ICT team based in Brasilia, Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo.    

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Promptly handle assigned issues and tasks through internal systems.
  • Ensure excellent customer service and teamwork practices at all times.
  • Perform basic office support functions when not supporting the ICT team.
  • Carry out ad-hoc daily and weekly tasks as assigned by Head of Corporate Services in support of departmental operations and objectives.
  • Act as the local IT Systems Officer, providing support and first line response to general IT enquiries from users.
  • Provide IT support to users at post – Including Other Government Department  users based in the Embassy.
  • Effectively escalate ICT related issues to the Helpdesk in the UK when providing first line support to users at post.
  • Undertake regular preventive ICT maintenance to official equipments.
  • Undertake regular and ad hoc approved upgrades to the system.
  • Ensure all FCO ICT security procedures are complied with.
  • Undertake effective fault management.
  • Review, procure and instal approved hardware.
  • Provide portable equipment support (e.g. PDAs, Tablets, Laptops, Mobile phones).
  • Movie existing operating hardware and reinstalling it at different locations (when approved/required).
  • Management of all local software licences in compliance with legal and commercial requirements (where appropriate).
  • Co-ordinate the work of the different available systems Super Users (where appropriate/required).
  • Proactive dissemination of relevant ICT related information to users.
  • Good understanding of the core FCO business functions and be in a position to advise on the best use of ICT to users.
  • Provide ICT related administrative tasks including keeping ICT hardware/software inventory up-to-date and relevant ICT documentation records.
  • Management of IT office suppliers (including stock levels and purchasing)  guided by the procurement team in Brasilia.
  • Provide other ad-hoc administrative tasks when required.
  • Regularly test the Crisis equipment including satellite phones and grab bags.
  • Help Maintain business Continuity Plan including the relevant equipments, carrying out periodic tests of the Plan.
  • Previous experience of minimum 2 years, working as an ICT Support Officer for a medium to large organisation.
  • Professional ICT qualifications, with an University Degree (ICT related).

  • Certificates on Microsoft Windows technologies.

  • The successful candidate will be attending the FCO ITSO training course.    
  • Working hours are 8:30 am to 16:45 hours, Monday to Friday.     
  • The IT Support Officer’s position and balance of responsibilities is likely to change, particularly during the first six months.
