Main purpose of job:

 

To undertake essential support tasks at the British Deputy High Commission and its residential estate.

Roles and Responsibilities

The core duties of a member of our housekeeping staff are:

 

  • To ensure the BDHC is kept clean, and that high standards of hygiene are maintained. Occasional deep cleaning of residential accommodations maintained by the BDHC.
  • Maintaining the BDHC stores, moving furniture and equipment as required.
  • To prepare meeting rooms, representational properties  for events and meetings.
  • Support the Post Security Manager by supervising external contractors and other individuals who require access to the BDHC.
  • To undertake other duties as required by the CSM or the Estates Team.

We need housekeepers to work under the supervision of the Corporate Services Manager and the Estates Team to ensure the office and residential estate associated with the British Deputy High Commission is maintained to a high standard and events help in the office and in the two Residences are prepared professionally. Particular duties include the following:

 

  • To ensure high standards of hygiene and cleanliness (to meet UK standards) in office premises 
  • Record the cleaning activities during the course of a day
  • Managing the planned deep cleaning of office premises / shampooing of carpets in consultation with Line Manager.
  • Set up meeting rooms as required
  • Assist in setting up DHC / DHM apartments for events
  • Assist in catering during office / Section events
  • Readiness to accept change in job profile depending on business need
  • Any other ad-hoc responsibilities as and when required.
  • Escorting of external vendors in office & residential apartments whenever  required
  • Atleast 1 year of relevant experience in Housekeeping.

For British High Commission (BHC) candidates, the Local Staff BHC Terms & Conditions will apply.

 

For other than BHC candidates, salary will be INR 14,376 per month together with a 12% provident fund and 6% Superannuation Fund/ Special Allowance.

The British Deputy High Commission (BDHC) in Mumbai is the equivalent of a Consulate General. The Head of Post is the British Deputy High Commissioner, who is the equivalent of a Consul General.  The BDHC is located in the BKC area of the city. It has 100 staff members focussing on areas as diverse as the promotion of the United kingdom as a trade and inward investment partner of choice for India, consular services to British nationals, political relations, media and communications, corporate services, visas for Indian national wishing to go to the UK, science and innovation and relationships with the Indian customs services. It also has subordinate posts in Pune (British Trade Office) and Goa (British Nationals Assistance Office), for which the job holder will also oversee security aspect.

 

The BDHC is a busy mission in keeping with the strength of the UK/India relationship, and the prioritisation given to India by the British Government, resulting in a high volume of very senior visitors, trade delegations and the delivery of big events to maximise and increase the value of the bilateral relationship.
