The British Embassy in Sofia is part of a worldwide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now offering a Senior Trade Advisor opportunity in the Department for International Trade (DIT).

The Department for International Trade (DIT) is the UK Government organisation that helps UK-based companies to succeed in Bulgaria and other international markets. DIT also assists overseas companies to bring high-quality investment to the UK’s economy.

The successful jobholder will assist UK companies to succeed in Bulgaria by identifying relevant business opportunities, engaging with UK companies and local stakeholders, and ultimately helping to secure export business.

Main responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and manage CEN regional campaigns in automotive and retail, engage UK companies on business opportunities and ultimately support them to win business in Bulgaria;
  • Collaborate effectively with DIT colleagues across the CEE region and in the UK on regional strategic campaigns, trade promotion events and visit programmes for UK trade delegations and individual companies;
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders in relevant Government institutions, trade associations and the business community both in Bulgaria and in the UK;
  • Fluency in English and Bulgarian (both oral and written);
  • A strong knowledge of the business environment in Bulgaria and understanding of the UK business environment;
  • Ability to develop and maintain contacts in both the public and private sectors;
  • Positive, proactive attitude and ability to work in team;
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills;
  • University graduate, preferably in business, management or marketing;
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office.
  • Experience in trade promotion and business development.

This is a full-time fixed-term position (36 hours per week) for a maternity cover.

The successful candidate will receive a monthly salary of BGN 1999 BGN.

The successful candidate will be subject to confirmation of a background and security clearance.
