The British Embassy, Doha has a vacancy for a Researcher - IEI, Grade A2 (L).

Objective:

The British Embassy Doha is part of a worldwide network representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking for a researcher to provide flexible support, investigative skills and cultural advice to the Immigration Enforcement International network in Qatar.

Immigration Enforcement International is a law enforcement agency within the UK Home Office, whose responsibility it is to tackle organised immigration crime and prevent illegal migration.

The post-holder will assist delivery on specific projects on Organised Immigration Crime and facilitate bilateral cooperation with key partners within host law enforcement and judicial agencies. The post-holder will be required to develop a clear strategic knowledge of the threat from Organised Immigration Crime in Qatar and the bordering countries in order to provide practical support to the Immigration Liaison Officers (ILO), manage records and analyse data.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

• Liaise with partners across government within the British Embassy Qatar general mission staff and foreign law enforcement liaison officers.

• Undertake analysis, research and development on intelligence received from UK home office, airlines and hosts on immigration crime.

• Maintain databases

• Financial/budgetary and travel planning and accounting

• Submit reports on programmes, including ad hoc, monthly, interim, quarterly, annual and end-of-project reports.

• Act as a translator / interpreter (if Arabic or other relevant languages spoken.)

Working Hours and Remuneration:

The British Embassy offers an attractive working environment and competitive remuneration package for this role, including non-negotiable salary of QAR 11,294 per calendar month and transportation allowance of QAR 800 per calendar month. The Embassy offers a generous leave allocation and is committed to staff development. This is a full time, fixed term contract for one year.

No accommodation or relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position.

Embassy working hours are 7.30 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. Sunday to Wednesday and 7.30 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. on Thursday. This position is offered on a full-time basis and due to the nature of the work some flexibility on hours might be required.

The successful candidate will need to commence security clearance procedures through the Embassy.

Eligibility:

Candidates must already either reside in Qatar under spouse sponsorship or be able to transfer existing sponsorship to the British Embassy.

The successful applicant will be required to obtain security clearance.

Process:

The recruitment process, including security clearance, is expected to take around two months.
