The United Kingdom Mission to the United Nations in Geneva represents the interests and policies of the UK at the UN and is recruiting an enthusiastic and motivated team member who can become an integral part of the Corporate Services Team. The Corporate Services department is a team of 9 colleagues, working closely together to support UK Based and Country Based staff across the Mission throughout their time in Geneva, from settling into the country and their roles, to general administrative support during their appointment and finally assisting with departure requirements. The areas covered by the Corporate Services Team include IT, Security, HR, Protocol, Finance, Community Liaison and general administrative support.
The Corporate Services Officer will be responsible for delivering diligent administrative support services on HR and Payroll for Country Based staff, as well as diverse administrative tasks associated with relocating to or from Geneva.
The responsibilities include general administration related to, but not limited to:
HR/Payroll:
- Monthly payroll for country-based staff
- Enrolment and deregistration to social insurances and pension scheme
- Annual salary declarations to various offices
- Notifying the relevant insurances of long-term sick leave and accidents
- Researching various queries pertinent to Swiss Labour Law and advise as necessary.
Administration:
- Support the Corporate Services Team with the various administrative processes linked to onboarding staff. Examples include; requesting Swiss ID cards, various passes, duty free petrol cards, importing cars, arranging customs clearance of personal effects, or arranging registration under reciprocal healthcare scheme.
- Help deputise for colleagues in the Corporate Services Team during periods of leave.
- Good knowledge of Swiss Labour Law (HR certificate a plus)
- Fluency at C1 level (both oral and written) in French and English
- Strong organisational skills with very good attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a strong customer focus and awareness of business needs
- Ability to work with contacts and colleagues at all levels
- Personal drive and the ability to be a self-starter as well as a team player;
- Flexible, resilient under pressure;
- Comprehensive knowledge of IT tools (excel, Teams etc.)
This is a part-time employment contract of 20 hours per week Monday-Friday.
There are a wide range of learning and development opportunities available to staff at the UK Mission. The job-holder will be expected to quickly come up to speed, through on-line learning, formal training and job-shadowing, with the way in which the Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office approaches security, logistics, staff management, crisis management and business continuity planning.
The successful candidate will be subject to professional background check, security clearance and 3 months’ probation period.
Staff recruited locally by the UK Mission for the United Nations in Geneva are subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local Swiss employment law.
Visa/work permit requirements: Candidates must currently hold the independent right to live and work in Switzerland and be prepared to ensure that right remains throughout the scope of the contract.
United Kingdom, European Union and EFTA nationals do not require visa sponsorship along with Nationals of: Brunei Darussalam, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Principality of Andorra, Principality of Monaco, San Marino, Singapore and Vatican.
