The British Embassy in Tbilisi is part of a worldwide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and we are now looking for a Technical Works Assistant.

The successful candidate will be responsible for day to day testing, operation, and maintenance of engineering plant and equipment, covering: chillers, boilers, air handling units, fan coil unit, sanitary systems, water treatments, pumps, building control systems, generators.

 Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring that all maintenance operations, safety checks and routine tasks are carried out in a timely manner in accordance with relevant quality specifications and documented according to the established policies and procedures;
  • Dealing with maintenance and repair work requests (including responding to Emergency requests), determining priorities and appropriate standard procedures in conjunction with other members of the technical team;
  • Identifying and ordering required materials, spares and equipment in accordance with the Embassy’s procurement process;
  • Ensuring availability of adequate level of consumable materials and spares in store;
  • Assisting and participating in complex maintenance and repairs activities carried out by other specialists, as required;
  • Implementing and observing Embassy’s Health and Safety policies and procedures;
  • As necessary, performing other duties, requiring essentially the same level of skills & responsibility, when required.
  • Good written and spoken level of English and Georgian;
  • At least 3 years of experience in mechanical/engineering or electrical field or any equivalent combination of training and experience;
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety procedures;
  • High degree of technical ability;
  • Ability to interpret engineering/technical drawings;
  • IT Literate in Microsoft Office;
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Good time management and organisation skills;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues.
  • Knowledge of UK Health and Safety regulations;
  • Experience in planning and supervising small work project including instructing and co-ordinating sub-contractors;
  • Experience of working in an International Organization.

This is a full-time, permanent position, 40 hours per week.

The gross monthly salary is 2,724 GEL. Please note that staff members are responsible for paying any income tax and state pension contributions required by local law.

The successful candidate will be subject to a professional background check and security clearance.

Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in Tbilisi is subject to local Terms and Conditions of Service.
