Who we are and what we do

We are looking for a Financial Portfolio Lead to join the Regional Finance Hub, located in the British Embassy Vilnius. The Hub provides professional financial services, including monitoring and reporting on the financial activities of all British Embassies and UK Government overseas offices, located across Europe and Central Asia. Each Financial Portfolio Lead manages a group of countries, forging strong relationships with the customers to meet agreed financial standards and procedures, and works closely with colleagues both in the Vilnius Hub and Finance Business Partners located in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London.

 

Main responsibilites will include:

  • Monitor and process budgeting, forecasting and reporting for the assigned portfolio of countries;
  • Act as the first line of financial support and compliance for the customer;
  • Ensure financial management indicators are robust and issues resolved appropriately within agreed timescales;
  • Consolidate information across their portfolio to monitor trends and variances and make recommendations;
  • Liaise with individual Embassies and Finance Business Partners in the UK;
  • Ensure consistency across all processes, both within the region and across other regional hubs;
  • Take part in reviewing and improving processes and related guidance; undertake ad-hoc financial management and reporting tasks as required; occasional project work;
  • Report directly to the Regional Finance Manager located in the Finance Hub in Vilnius.
  • Fluency in English (both oral and written);
  • University-level degree or equivalent in Finance, Accountancy, Economics or Business Management;
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of relevant qualified experience as accountant, bookkeeper, financial analyst or similar;
  • IT literate to an advanced level;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, customer service experience;
  • Strategic focus and ability to work proactively;
  • Availability to travel, occasionally, to the UK and other countries as needed.

This is a fixed term, full-time contract to cover for a maternity leave and it will end on the return of the job holder (the estimated contract duration is 14 months).

The successful candidate will be subject to professional background check and security clearance.
