Main purpose of job:

Working with the Advanced Engineering & Automotive Sector Manager, you will be responsible for assisting these three main pillars: Trade Promotion, Trade Support and Market Access efforts for British companies, aiming at increasing UK exports and supporting inward investments.

You will assist the development and management of a pipeline of commercial opportunities for UK companies or in UK with particular focus on, but not limited to, Advanced Engineering, Automotive, Chemicals and Aerospace sectors. You will also be responsible for the team’s administrative tasks and for regularly updating our client-management database.  

Roles and responsibilities:

This is an exciting opportunity to work on improving bilateral trade and investment between the United Kingdom and Brazil, especially through supporting the increase in UK exports. The Advanced Engineering & Automotive team works to support High Value UK and Brazilian companies with significant trade potential as well as large UK investors in Brazil. 

You will be responsible to account manage a pipeline of at least 20 companies, mainly Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and for supporting the Advanced Engineering & Auto Sector Manager with the Tier -1 sectors accounts, as well as researching and validating new accounts that meet the High Value criteria. Your success in this position will mainly be measured on the value of exports you assist British companies to achieve in the Brazilian market. These companies will be clustered around the Advanced Engineering, Automotive, Chemicals and Aerospace sectors.

You will also be responsible for the production of content for events, inward and outbound missions and the promotion of the UK offer for business.

You will support exporting companies in the UK to access the Brazilian market by delivering a number of high-profile events, market information and marketing campaigns in Brazil, as well as assisting in mapping the market access barriers and producing market research reports. This position will see you exposed to ministers and high-profile stakeholders in the private and public sectors; therefore, a high level of resilience and professionalism are essential. 

The position will suit an energetic team player, motivated self-starter with a passion and genuine interest in the sectors mentioned above, as well as their movements, stakeholders, trends and barriers. 

It will require a positive and proactive attitude that thinks in terms of unlocking opportunities for UK companies in Brazil.

Essential on arrival: 

  • Minimum of 2-year experience in business development and customer relationship management role.
  • Sector knowledge on Advanced Engineering, Automotive, Chemicals or Aerospace.
  • MS Office literacy (Excel, Word, Powerpoint) and excellent communication skills.

Desirable: 

  • University degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Economics, International Relations or related areas
  • Experience of working in client facing roles
  • Project management skills 
  • Sense of prioritization and ability to work in a place where the creation of value and partnering are rewarded
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills that facilitates engagement with high profile stakeholders and Senior Management
  • Proactive self-starter, collaborative, organized, responsible, communicative, creative and opened to learn and receive feedback
  • Knowledge/understanding of the Automotive, Advanced Engineering , Chemicals or Aerospace sectors
  • Knowledge/understanding of Brazilian business landscape
  • Experience of working in stakeholder relationship management
  • Experience working with events, marketing or eagerness to learn about these fields quickly.
  • Graduation in Business, Economics, International Relations, Engineering or related areas. 
  • Post-Graduation in related areas of required expertise preferred.
