Political

Project Management Excellence 

  • Ensure Prosperity Fund projects are well-managed and delivered with clear project objectives, associated indicators of success, and outputs that are sufficient and necessary to deliver the desired project outcome. 
  • Provide competent daily administration of projects under the Prosperity Fund and undertake regular monitoring visits to projects to ensure that it produces optimum results, and provide advice to project partners when the project is not performing or delivering its objectives.
  • Advice, recommend or gather policy inputs from/to Senior Policy Officers on relevant decisions related to Prosperity Fund projects.
  • Coordinate with London Departments on questions about policies or procedures on project management, adjustments and changes to the project, and update the proper Programme Fund board on the spending profile of the projects.

Financial Excellence 

  • Ensure project spend targets are met with all payments properly checked and processed, with reporting done correctly and on time.
  • Implement clear rules and guidelines that are in line with the FCO rules and best practice. Disseminate these to all internal and external participants in projects, including how to deal with potential conflicts of interests.
  • Deliver Value for Money by challenging proposed cost and benchmarking. Eliminate advance payments, and link payments to associated milestones and outcomes.

Technical capability 

  • Provide technical inputs on project design and development of economic and trade policy related work on the Prosperity Fund.
  • Support wider Embassy objectives on economic reform in the country.

Communicating / Influencing 

  • Increased network for the Embassy by creating important links to a variety of organisations and stakeholders in the Philippines. 
  • Active participation in working groups involving other funding organisations, government agencies, civil society groups, and private businesses to influence them towards Embassy objectives.
  • Publication of a monthly project newsletter or monthly updates for each project (blogs, pictures, videos) to explain and communicate the value of the projects.

Corporate 

  • Positive involvement in at least three corporate/one team activities during the appraisal period
  • Background or project experience relating to development, economics, business and international trade
  • Excellent oral and written English communications skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, International trade or Public policy

The British Embassy offers a competitive compensation package, 36-hour work week, guaranteed 13th and 14th month pay, 20 days paid annual leave (calculated on Pro-rata basis if joined after 1 January), extensive medical insurance, life insurance and access to a guaranteed 5 days of learning opportunities a year. This position is being advertised as a full-time two (2) years fixed term contract linked to the British Embassy’s Local Staff B3 grade.

No accommodation or relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position. You must have work authorisation for the Philippines in order to apply.

Employment offers are subject to successful clearance of pre-employment checks. Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy Manila is subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local Philippine employment law.

Candidates are expected to have a valid NBI Clearance.
