Economic and Prosperity

The role consists of two pillars: project management and policy delivery. The jobholder will report to the Deputy Head of the Prosperity Team and will lead on the design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the Embassy’s prosperity projects to help strengthen the relationship between the UK and Panama. In policy delivery, the role will lead on the embassy’s engagement on climate change and energy issues, and provide support on other policy areas such as Anti-Corruption, Financial Services, Tax Transparency, Government Reform, Infrastructure and Education.


Duties and responsibilities:


Project Management – 70%:

To manage the team’s projects throughout the whole project cycle; initiation, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and ongoing reporting. The jobholder will need to ensure project implementers follow current FCO processes, using defined programme and project templates. The roll will require continuous communication with project implementers and stakeholders to ensure effective project delivery, on time and on budget.

Climate Change and Energy – 20%:

Support Embassy objectives on climate change, building a network of contacts both in Panama and in the UK to deliver effective policy engagement on climate change and energy, using these relationships to influence Panama’s position on climate change negotiations and ensure positive engagement in international discussions, such as COP meetings and aviation agreements.

Wider policy support – 10%

To give policy support to other members of the team, supporting their work on the wider prosperity agenda of the team, including on Anti-Corruption, Financial Services, Tax Transparency, Government Reform, Infrastructure and Education.

Language:  Fluent English and Spanish

Proficiency with Microsoft Office programmes, particularly Excel and Word, strong organisational and communication skills – particularly written and over the phone.Project management experience, ability to pick up new skills quickly.
