Main purpose of job:     

Daily washing & ironing of clothes of residents, visitors and Residence linen.


Roles and responsibilities: 

  • Daily hand-wash & iron clothes of residents & visitors
  • To ensure all clothes are well maintained, undamaged & duly returned
  • Washing & ironing of towels, bed–linen, table-linen, and chair covers used at the Residence
  • All table cloths and napkins starched and stored neatly
  • To sort out all laundry and return to appropriate departments
  • To make sure that clothes & linen are stacked in proper sets and damaged or stained items are kept separately and shown to Residence Manager for advice
  • Washing & ironing of staff uniforms
  • Cleaning/ Washing Dhurries, pillows, quilts, curtains when required
  • Washing of HC’s & Lady’s car covers when required
  • Maintenance of Laundry machines and to take immediate action in case of a breakdown
  • All appliances to be switched off from main at the end of the day
  • Sweep & maintain cleanliness of area inside & outside Laundry Room
  • To help in washing glassware and serving food and drink during larger events/ when required.

Working patterns:

Total working hours per week – 48 hrs

Timings: 8000 – 1600 hrs  (Sundays off)

Living Quarter provided with lavatory sharing.

Essential on arrival:      7 -10 yrs work experience in Laundry. Thorough knowledge of laundry equipment, fabrics and washing materials 

Desirable:       to be able to communicate in English

For British High Commission (BHC) candidates, the Local Staff BHC Terms & Conditions will apply. 

For other than BHC candidates, salary will be INR 16774 per month together with a 12% provident fund and 6% Special Allowance.
