The British Embassy Dubai has a vacancy for an Immigration Liaison Assistant, job grade A2(L) to work under Immigration Enforcement International (IEI).

The main purpose of this role is to provide administrative and organisational support to the Immigration Liaison Manager (ILM) and Immigration Liaison Officers (ILO) as necessary. The jobholder will also contribute to the wider objectives of the British Government in the United Arab Emirates.


Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative and organisational support to the Immigration Liaison Manager (ILM) and Immigration Liaison Officer (ILO) as necessary.
  • Maintain risk databases, including substantial data entry and related background research.
  • Diary management and monitoring incoming requests.
  • Prepare statistics and reports as required.
  • Liaise with and develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders including Embassy colleagues, airlines and local Law Enforcement across the United Arab Emirates and neighbouring countries.
  • Manage the team e-mail inbox ensuring responses are prompt.
  • Produce monthly headcount, staffing and budgetary returns.
  • Organise regional travel, training sessions and internal/ external meetings in consultation with the ILO/ ILM.

  • Engaging Internationally - Engaging our staff, contacts and international partners and developing productive relationships to help deliver UK Government objectives. Being aware of cultural sensitivities in area of responsibility and building up negotiating expertise and use language skills where appropriate to deepen impact.
  • Previous office administration experience.
  • Ability to work effectively within a small team.
  • IT literacy. Good knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Flexibility. Occasionally the position may require the job holder to work extended hours or work flexibly, sometimes at short notice.
  • Fluency in English, written and spoken.
  • Experience of working in an international/ multilateral environment.
  • Basic knowledge of UK and UAE government/ civil service structures.
  • Previous experience or knowledge of the travel industry, aviation and/ or security sectors.
  • Arabic language skills.

The Embassy aims to offer an attractive working environment and remuneration package for this role, including: 25 days of annual leave per annum, on-site parking and on-site swimming pool, gymnasium, and sports facilities.

Salary is at AED 11,108 per month.

There are no other allowances payable as part of this package. No accommodation and relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position.

Conditioned working hours are 38 hours per week. Standard working hours are from 07:30 to 14:30 from Sunday to Thursday. The jobholder should be flexible in their approach to hours worked as these will be dictated by operational needs and may involve working out of hours.
