The Role:

The British Embassy in Dubai has a vacancy for Translator & Personal Assistant to support the work of the UK Crown Prosecution Service.

Objective:

The successful candidate will manage the Judicial Cooperation Office, and provide full administrative support to two Liaison Prosecutors, who are based between the Embassies in Dubai and Abu Dhabi and some ad-hoc support to the Liaison Prosecutor based in Manama, Bahrain.    The successful candidate will also be required to translate documents into or from Arabic, and to support the CPS Liaison Prosecutors in their dealings with Arabic-speaking partners.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Case management of UK Mutual Legal Assistance (MLA) and Extradition requests;
  • Provision of full administrative support, including managing diaries, organising and maintaining documents and resource management;
  • Provision of accurate and timely translation of all incoming Arabic documents and outgoing correspondence;
  • Arranging meetings wither external stakeholders, attending where appropriate to interpret in Arabic and English
  • External liaison, building and maintaining close working relationships with UK law enforcement, and representatives from the host country.

Essential: 

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, in English and Arabic;

  • Strong IT skills, with literacy and experience in Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Experience of general office and administration duties;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Proven organisational ability;
  • Results driven with due attention to deadlines and outputs;
  • Strong personal integrity and knowledge of secure data handling, retention and storage procedures.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of UK and UAE legal treaties and law

Working Hours and Remuneration:

The Embassy aims to offer an attractive working environment and remuneration package for this role. The total salary for the role is AED 11,108 per month at Grade A2 (L). There are no other allowances payables as part of this package. You are entitled for 25 days of annual leave per annum plus public holidays as designated by the Embassy, on-site parking and on-site swimming pool, gymnasium and sports facilities.  This is a fulltime, fixed term contract  for  maternity leave cover. 

No accommodation and relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position.

Conditioned working hours are 38 hours per week. Standard working hours are from 07:30 to 14:30 from Sunday to Thursday. Position holder should be flexible in their approach to hours worked as these will be dictated by operational needs and may involve working out of hours.

Process:

The recruitment process, including security clearance, is expected to take around two months.
