The British Embassy in Paris is part of a worldwide network, representing British political, economic, commercial and consular interests overseas. We are currently looking for a Sports and Events Delivery Officer

The Sports and Events Delivery Officer will be responsible for helping to deliver a strategic programme UK and sport-related promotional events throughout the year from the Rugby World Cup to the end of the Paralympics, working closely with marketing, communication and outreach teams. 

They will liaise with a wide range of stakeholders including the British Olympic Association, British Paralympic Association, British Council and delivery partners to ensure effective, on budget, delivery of the programme. 

Main roles and responsibilities:

Sport Events Programme Delivery – Working with others across the Embassy, plan and deliver a programme of activities leading up to the Rugby World Cup and Games events, working with the outreach and communication teams. This will involve understanding business needs and communicating them to stakeholders including sponsors and delivery partners through structured documentation.  It may also involve developing business cases or pitches for potential sponsors.

Use games-related networks and interactions with host-city and provincial governments to look for wider opportunities across the full range of Embassy business, in support of the France network’s objectives.  Contribute creatively to comms/narratives about UK sport in France.

Support the British Olympic Association/British Paralympic Association plans –  Act as main contact point for teams, especially on events planning for the British Olympic Association, British Paralympic Association on plans for Team GB House/Paralympics GB House during Paris 2024.  Provide them with advice and support as based on knowledge of local conditions and intelligence on what other teams and the organising committees are doing on the ground.

Develop local knowledge of venues and organising committee intentions to feed into the Teams’ planning.  Leverage the network of French stakeholders support team preparations. 

  • Good interpersonal and organisation skills to conduct duties effectively
  • IT skills including the Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Flexible, dependable, enthusiastic and customer focused and enjoy taking on challenging responsibilities
  • Events and communications experience
  • Three or more years of relevant working experience
  • Experience of working in an English speaking environment
  • Line management experience

This is a full-time and temporary position of 35 hours per week.
