Main purpose of job: Our interns will fulfil the following roles and responsibilities across exciting sectors, including technology, pharmaceuticals and biotech, and circular economy:

Written and spoken fluency at C1 level in both English and Spanish (according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages*);
Currently enrolled in a university degree (undergraduate or postgraduate level) e.g. Economics, International Relations, International Trade, Business Administration, Management, Political Science, Marketing, Public Policy or other degree related to the internship opportunity.
Currently studying at a Spanish University where the student will remain in the same university degree for the duration of the internship period;
High level of motivation and willingness to learn;
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships, convey information clearly and concisely;
Dynamic and hardworking, with attitude to work as part of a team as well as on own initiative when required;
Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office packages (Outlook, Excel, Word and Power Point, and MS Teams);
Able to work under pressure and to juggle competing deadlines.

This is an internship position for curricular or extra-curricular credits as part of a student´s current university degree. This is a part-time internship offer of 6 months, with the possibility of renewal. The working hours are 25 hours per week.
The successful candidate is subject to a confirmation of a background check and security clearance.
Eligible students must be fully enrolled in their current university degree for the duration of the internship period. The ‘Convenio de Cooperación Educativa’ must be signed by the University, the selected candidate and the British Embassy as part of the enrolment process before commencing the ‘prácticas curriculares/extra-curriculares’.
The successful candidate will be enrolled in the Spanish Social Security Scheme and will therefore not be entitled to any gratuity from the Embassy based on gross annual salary.
The Embassy is a Diplomatic Mission with tax exempt status and does not collect taxes for other States. Employees are fully responsible for payment of income tax at the legally required rate. Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in Spain are subject to terms and conditions of service according to local Spanish employment law.
Visa/work permit requirements: Candidates must currently hold the independent right to live and work in Spain and be prepared to ensure that right remains throughout the scope of the contract.
