The British Embassy in Cairo is seeking to recruit a Programme officer to work on the Newton Mosharafa Fund. The Newton Mosharafa Fund is a dedicated £50m fund to develop science and innovation partnerships with Egypt to promote economic development and social welfare.

Newton Mosharafa is funded by the Department for Business Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) in the UK.  The candidate will be part of the In-country team for BEIS in Egypt. This is an interesting role for a resourceful candidate. It requires excellent organisational skills, teamwork and the ability to process tasks systematically.

The Newton Fund aims to develop science and innovation partnerships that promote the economic development and social welfare of 16 partner countries, plus supporting development challenges globally.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Support to Programme Management
• Coordinate information flow between Country Programme team, regional leads and the UK programme management
• Provide timely information to the regional lead and others to inform programme development, disseminate updates to the region, and collect and disseminate evidence of impacts 
• Manage the programme budget, monitor spend and examine bids for additional activities
• Contribute to monitoring and evaluation of the programme in country to collect impact stories

2. Communications
• Work with Country team to coordinate the preparation of new regional funding opportunities, and support ongoing regional and bilateral activities
• Providing support in promoting the Newton Mosharafa Funding opportunities and calls when announced
• Liaise with Embassy communication team to promote various media opportunities 
• Plan the launch of social media outreach channels/tools for Newton Mosharafa; and regular update of the Newton Mosharafa social media channel(s) with latest relevant information

3. Administrative support
• Coordinate regional team meetings for Country team, setting agendas and tracking delivery
• Organise Steering committee meetings; documentation and follow up actions
• Information management support of programme library
• Liaise with programme managers and arrange logistics of internal and external events during visits
• Organise logistics for internal and external visits 
• Attend project-related events and visits as required

  • 1-2 years of Project management experience including successful stakeholder management
  • Strong Office Microsoft Skills  of Windows office ( Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Strong interpersonal skills, communications with different teams, initiative and resourcefulness and the ability to work both autonomously and as an integral member of a team
  • Experience with administrative tasks, personal organisation, deal with email and telephone queries, maintain an information management system, schedule, attend meetings, and take notes.
  • Experience in collecting and communicating impact stories of projects.

The position is A2 (L) and the starting Gross Salary is USD 804.39 per month subject to insurance and tax as per the usual regulations based on a 36 hours per week. No accommodation and relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position.

This position is a 1 year Fixed Term contract.
