The British Embassy in Copenhagen, part of a world-wide network representing UK political, economic and consular interests overseas, is looking for a bright and innovative individual to bolster our work within communications and stakeholder engagement. As part of the political team you will be a central part of our effort to strengthen the Embassy’s outreach to the Danish public and promote the close and long standing relationship between the UK and Denmark.

In more detail, main responsibilities will include:

  • Assist in increasing the Embassy’s presence and impact on social media (Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin etc.). This will entail developing new, creative ideas for content and campaigns, producing text, photos and videos, and monitoring the social media landscape;
  • Develop, plan and execute Embassy events with a political or public diplomacy focus, for example around Folkemødet, ensuring maximum impact in terms of stakeholder engagement and promotion of the UK brand in Denmark;
  • Assist the political team as needed with desk research, translating, website editing and other ad hoc assignments. The team covers everything from security and defence to science and innovation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Danish;
  • A strong grip on social media;
  • Interest in and understanding of international relations and diplomacy;
  • Above average organisational skills and a great overview;
  • At least 1 year of relevant work experience (out of university, internship or first year of work); PR/Communications Agency, NGO, public sector experience;
  • Degree in Communications, Media, International Relations.
  • Experience in driving social media campaigns;
  • Previous experience from working in a political or similar organisation;
  • Experience with photo and video editing tools.

This is a part-time (20 hours per week) fixed-term position for 12 months.

The successful candidate will be subject to professional background check and security clearance.

The successful candidate must have pre-existing work authorization for Denmark in order to apply.
