Main Purpose of Job:

Be part of the Department for International Trade’s (DIT) mission to drive more investment between North America and the UK. This is an exciting opportunity which supports and further develops the special relationship between the UK and the US, supporting work at the forefront of international diplomacy in order to make a real difference globally. Based at either at the British Consulate-General in Atlanta, Miami or Houston, you will have an opportunity to directly contribute to the way in which the UK Government supports US and Canadian investors looking to invest and expand in the United Kingdom. You will work closely with the Deputy Director and Director for Investment to establish the North America Investment Hub. This will involve conducting the recruitment of the Hub staff and designing work flows and processes to operationalise it.

Roles and Responsibilities:

The Hub will act as a central function for the whole of North America (United States and Canada). You will:

  • monitor the pipeline of our digital services for North American investors looking to expand and invest in the United Kingdom;
  • create and manage the workflows and processes associated with this service offer;
  • ensure the on-going day-to-day running of the Hub;
  • recruit and manage a North America Investment Hub team;
  • triage and manage projects with specialists across the UK and North America to ensure appropriate support is mobilised;
  • draw insight and evaluation of economic trends and project data to ensure we offer quality and targeted services;
  • manage our subscriptions to third party tools which investment teams in North America use to provide insight and intelligence on investors and investment trends;
  • Establish monitoring and evaluation metrics;
  • Engage and build relationships with colleagues across the whole of the North America.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Resources Managed: 

2 Investment Hub officers to support you with the management and execution of the day to day operations and responsibilities of the Hub

  • Demonstrated professional experience in a business or economic development role.
  • Knowledge of market trends in North America and preferably in the UK.
  • Excellent operational experience of investment promotion and designing workflows
  • Supervisory experience – building and leading successful teams.
  • Strong stakeholder management abilities.
  • Experience working with big data sets, compiling reports and providing commentary on insights.
  • Interpersonal, presentation and networking skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
