The British Embassy, Muscat has vacancy for the post of a DIT Team Assistant, Grade – A2 (L).

 

Main purpose of job:

At a time of staff high turnover and continuing high temp of work/events in the DIT team, we are looking for a team assistant to provide continuity and support. This role will provide cover for staffing gaps and help new staff to get up to speed with DIT processes, whilst also providing much needed help with organising the multiple senior visits and events DIT Muscat has coming up between now and the end of March 2018.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

This role will be an integral part of the DIT Muscat team, and the job holder will be expected to work closely with both the Director and Deputy Director of the team on visit programmes, events and company liaison.

Expected responsibilities:

• Publish Export opportunities for UK companies

• Submit Export wins for team

• Collate and manage guest lists for events

• Manage and run Income Generation and OMIS events for DIT

• Administration for the team: Diplomatic Notes

• High Value Sector Team Support – working with team members

• Compile visit programmes across sectors • Answer generic enquiries on doing business in Oman;

• Undertake market research on behalf of British companies;

• Prepare visit programmes for individuals or companies visiting from the UK;

• Provide support to Omani officials visiting the UK.

• Support DIT volume targets and work collaboratively with the wider team

For all staff, it’s about working to agreed goals and activities and dealing with challenges in a responsive and constructive way.

• Making Effective Decisions: It means showing clarity of thought, setting priorities, analysing and using evidence to evaluate options before arriving at well reasoned justifiable decisions.

Essential:
• Excellent written and oral English communication skills and interpersonal skills
• Awareness of DIT/UKTI structures, processes and objectives.
• Prepared to attend evening events outside of work hours
• Proficient in the use of computers.
• Able to collaborate and partner with others and establish trusted working relationships

Desirable:
• Experience of working in Oman.
• Experience of working within DIT/UKTI.
• Arabic speaker

Working Conditions and Remuneration:

The Embassy offers an attractive working environment and remuneration package for the role, including: salary of 480 Omani Riyals per month inclusive of all allowances; recreational facilities including a swimming pool and social club. This is a part time (3 days a week), fixed term position.

Normal working hours are 07:30 – 14:30 Sunday to Thursday.  You will occasionally be required to attend evening functions.

The Embassy has excellent working conditions and recreational facilities including a swimming pool and social club. There is a holiday entitlement of 30 days per year (pro rated) following successful completion of a 3 month probation period. Holidays that have already been booked will be honoured. There are also national holidays determined annually by the Embassy which usually total 14 days per year.  Training will be provided as necessary.
