The British Embassy in Sofia is part of a worldwide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking to recruit an Intern for the Department for Business and Trade.
The Department for Business and Trade (DBT) is the UK Government organisation that helps UK-based companies to sell their products and services in Bulgaria and other international markets. DBT also assists overseas companies to bring high-quality investment to the UK’s economy. The successful candidate will support commercial officers in delivering services to UK companies in Bulgaria in accordance with the annual business plan.

This is a full-time internship contract of 36 hours per week, with the normal working pattern being 09:00 to 17:00, although working hours are flexible.
The successful candidate will receive a non-negotiable monthly allowance of 1213 BGN gross + 50 BGN net as transport allowance.
The British Embassy in Sofia has a flexible working policy. Staff are expected to work from the Embassy at least three days a week, with Tuesdays and Wednesdays as ‘core’ days where everyone should aim to be working in the Embassy. The policy allows for exceptions from these working patterns, but permission should be received in advance. Please discuss any needs for flexible working with the hiring manager.
Core skills training and mandatory trainings will be provided by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. All staff have a personal development plan and access to world class learning and development opportunities.
The successful candidate will be subject to confirmation of a background and security clearance. Anyone with right of residence and employment in Bulgaria may apply, including all EU/EEA citizens and the family members of EU/EEA nationals exercising a treaty right in Bulgaria.
Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy are subject to Terms and Conditions Service according to Bulgarian employment law.
