Main purpose of job:


     


The Department for International Trade (DIT) is the UK Government’s international business development agency. DIT USA, working closely with DIT and other agencies in the United Kingdom, is charged with transatlantic trade development between the UK and the US; and with assisting US companies looking to invest in the UK. Reporting to the Vice Consul, Creative & Media, Trade and Investment, the position presents a unique opportunity to see trade and policy at work first-hand while working in a vibrant and high-profile sector in the UK and the US. The C&M sector is responsible for TV, film, animation, games, AR/VR/XR, and Business-to-Consumer companies such as Google, Facebook, Twitter, Netflix, EA, and Oculus.


 


This involves organising events as needed, researching and tracking creative & media companies on the West coast, generating leads from the research, setting up meetings for the officer, supporting UK companies as they export goods & services or set up operations in the US market, and to actively support and maintain the team’s trade & invest client pipelines administratively on internal systems. It’s a fast moving role that requires a flexible individual with a good sense of humour and ability to move at pace.


 

 

Roles and responsibilities:


  • Assist with the organization and execution of events as needed.
  • Deliver market research reports on industry developments. Generate leads and projects from US prospects looking to set up in the UK.
  • Build and manage a database of key contacts in the Creative & Media sector.  
  • Provide operational and administrative support to the Trade & Investment Officer and to the wider team as and when required. Arrange meetings, writing reports, handling administrative tasks and help maintain client accounts on internal systems (Data Hub.)

 





         


        • Bachelor’s degree or experience in a relevant field – Technology, International Trade marketing/communications, or creative/media is preferred;
        • Relevant work experience and/or business development experience in the US and, ideally, the UK;
        • Strong client management experience
        • Strong administrator with keen communication skills
        • Proactivity, organized and works to deadlines, prioritizes and is able to multi-task;
        • A self-starter, able to work independently and show initiative with limited day-to-day supervision while operating as part of a wider team with shared goals and wide-ranging objectives;
        • Strong networking skills;
        • Computer literacy in standard Microsoft applications;
        • Driving license and ability to undertake occasional air travel including overnight stays.
        • Must be able to demonstrate strong administration and research skills
