Main purpose of job:

GREAT is the UK Government’s flagship campaign aiming to drive growth and enhance reputation of the UK. The GREAT Campaign Manager for South Asia is required to collaborate with teams in the GREAT HQ, UK Government departments, GREAT partners, posts in the region and; integrate the regional priorities with the GREAT themes. The role requires planning and delivering campaigns built on regional priorities and the one led by the GREAT HQ.

Roles and responsibilities-

  • Develop an in-depth understanding of the South Asia region, the county business plans and post priorities and identify opportunities to integrate the GREAT campaign and its themes.
  • Oversee Great Challenge Fund (GCF) campaign bids in the region to promote the UK: help the region and campaign partners (British Council, Department for International Trade, Visit Britain etc.) develop GCF-funded activities having strong focus on returns; ensure integration with other regional GREAT activity.
  • Create a strong connection between central GCF and GREAT HQ teams, the region; supporting the development and execution of the regional GREAT marketing and promotion plan.
  • Proactive project management for GREAT activity in the region, including activity planning, budgeting, resource planning, procurement, delivery, monitoring and evaluation.
  • Act as brand guardian; champion the brand and encourage consistent use of GREAT by xHMG and partners, including working with GREAT HQ on training resources.
  • Champion monitoring, evaluation and reporting back to HQ for GREAT campaigns in the region; regularly share best practice with the central GCF and GREAT HQ teams and other Regional Hubs; compile inputs for the GREAT highlights.
  • Act as a deputy to the Lead of GREAT programme in South Asia, stepping up to cover when necessary.

Resources managed (staff and expenditure): Line management responsibility agreed latter upon joining.

Language requirements: Proficient in English language. Working knowledge of Hindi

Learning and development opportunities (and any specific training courses to be completed):

The jobholder will be able to access a wide range of online and face-to-face training delivered for the UK Government in post and abroad. They will have opportunities to access specialist training for government communicators. Much of the learning is on the job, which will be diverse and varied

The role is based either in New Delhi/ Mumbai/ Bengaluru and work for the South Asia region including Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

The work of a diplomatic mission can be unusual, and the subject matter can range from trade and investment to defence and security to education and visas. The jobholder should be able to hit the ground running, learning quickly about a wide range of issues.

The job holder may be called upon to support the wider marketing and communications team when necessary, so a degree of flexibility is required.

The overall responsibility for the GREAT Programme is managed centrally by the GREAT HQ team within Cabinet Office in London, working closely with the FCDO (GREAT Challenge Fund team) to activate the GREAT brand internationally via the large network of UK posts compromising of different cross governmental departments (incl. FCDO, DIT, Visit Britain, British Council, etc.)

Essential on arrival: 

  1. Graduate in any stream and minimum 5 years’ experience in planning and delivering integrated marketing campaigns of varied scale.
  2. Experience of working with large number of stakeholders, excellent interpersonal skills and managing expectations.
  3. Experience in developing campaign content and messaging for a variety of channels.
  4. An understanding of project monitoring/ evaluation and report writing.
  5. Working knowledge of procurement for projects and good working relations with suppliers.

Desirable:

  • Prior experience of working in an international, multicultural organisation.
  • Master’s in business administration in Marketing Management.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 particularly MS Projects.

For British High Commission candidates, the Country Based Staff BHC Terms & Conditions will apply.

For other than BHC candidates, salary will be all-inclusive of INR 110,484 per month together with a 12% Provident Fund and 6% Special Allowance.

No relocation or any other related costs or assistance will be provided.

Please note - BHC does not deduct tax at source and employees are required to ensure that any requirements of local income-tax law are complied with in full. Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary, eg. some non-local national staff and some spouses or partners of UK diplomatic staff, will have their salaries abated by an equivalent amount.

Please note - Provident Fund Transfer in and out from EPFO is not possible as BHC PF is managed by a private PF trust governed by Indian Income Tax Act, 1961. The staff still has the option to transfer out and in from a privately held PF trust which are not governed by EPFO.
