Main purpose of job

The UK Department for International Trade (DIT) is the government organisation that supports companies in the UK doing business internationally and overseas enterprises seeking to expand and set up in the UK.   In Mexico, our ambition is to connect the UK and Mexico via increased levels of bilateral trade.

The position consists of assisting the Head of the Infrastructure and Financial Services Team to promote business opportunities in Mexico, liaise with key contacts and partners both in Mexico and the UK, conducting relevant business and market research, supporting UK companies on their enquiries about the Mexican market, and coordinating and keeping track of administrative tasks.



Roles and responsibilities


  • Identifying potential key contacts both in Mexico and the UK
  • Conducting business and market research and updating sector reports
  • Monitoring the media/ internet for opportunities and bringing relevant information to the attention of the Financial Services and Future Cities Virtual Teams, as well as relevant colleagues in the UK.  
  • Drafting and submitting export opportunities
  • Following up on enquiries/information requests from UK companies
  • Attending meetings with relevant sector stakeholders as well as trade fairs and exhibitions (when needed)
  • Assisting in the organisation and delivery of trade promotion events and missions
  • Preparing sector-focused presentations
  • Keeping track of and updating databases (including assistance given to UK companies)
  • Collaborating with members of the Financial Services Regional High Value Campaign from other markets (Brazil and Colombia) as well as the Infrastructure Regional High Value Campaign (Brazil, Argentina, Costa Rica, Panama, Peru, and Colombia).
  • Performing other administrative tasks as required—including occasional support in drafting briefing documents for high level meetings.
  • The selected candidate will be required to work from Monday to Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Friday from 8:00am to 2:00pm and be available for occasional overtime as required.
  • There may be occasional requirement to travel to other locations within and outside Mexico.

Language: English.

Level of language required: Fluent verbal and written skills.


Translation English-Spanish abilities / Ability to research and complete administrative tasks in time and form.


Previous work experience and/or knowledge on financial services and infrastructure sectors is desirable but not required.
