Purpose of job:
To oversee the smooth day to day running of the Union Jack Club; restaurant, shop, lounge, bar, gym and tennis club. Deliver a high level of customer service to all members, in compliance with FCO Good Practice Guide to Clubs and Commissariats.
Main duties:
Customer Service
- Provide a high level of customer service to ensure all club members and guests have a positive experience of using Club facilities.
- Plan and deliver a programme of regular social events throughout the year in agreement with the committee.
Staff Management
- Motivate and manage a large Team of staff, to ensure they are provided with necessary training, contracts and performance reviews. Actively manage poor performance and misconduct.
- Maintain and manage staff records (shifts, leave etc.) as well as wider HR requirements.
- Encourage a supportive and inclusive team working environment, recognising diversity.
- Arrange and manage recruitment campaigns as and when required
Financial Management
- Ensure that effective systems are in place and maintained to ensure the Club operates within the Clubs and Commissariat Guidance issued by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
- Lead on all procurement and contract management for the club, ensuring best value for money and overall responsibility for effective stock control.
- Prepare monthly financial reports for the Club Committee and Club President and implement annual audit recommendations.
Facilities Management
- Regularly Update H&S instructions encompassing all facilities
- Create and regularly update a staff handbook outlining main principals and objectives of working within the Club environment
- Apply and maintain strict H&S and food hygiene standards across all the facilities and for events.
- Co-ordinate with High Commission Estates Department to ensure all Club facilities are maintained to a high level for the safety and benefit of all members and Club staff

This is an exciting role in one of the largest and much loved diplomatic clubs in New Delhi. The Club Committee are looking for an individual who can develop our operation, innovate, investigate and introduce new ideas, products and ways of stimulating interest in club activities. Your main objective will be to improve and sustain standards across all of our activities, building a clear picture of increased customer satisfaction.
You will lead a Team of committed and experienced staff. The Committee will expect to see a committed, well disciplined, well trained dedicated group, all able to support one another and work together in the most professional way possible. Inclusivity is of paramount importance, listening to the Team and acting on good suggestions should be factored in. Your leadership and control of the staff will be a vital part of the duties of a Club Manager.
The role demands a professional with excellent experience of working in a similar sized operation in the hospitality, leisure, or retail industries. Naturally the Committee will also consider candidates with transferable skills from other professional disciplines.
The committee would prefer qualifications or a sound understanding of the Hospitality Industry, Accounts, Communication Skills, Customer Care, Food and Beverage, Sports Activities and Entertainments. Simple IT skills are essential, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint will be needed. A very good level of English is required and an ability to adapt to some British Cultural requirements will be necessary.
The budgeted compensation for the position will be INR 62,000 plus Medical Benefits, Additional Allowances and matched PF Contributions.
