Main purpose of job:

60% time of the jobholder will be in charge of the Indonesia Network’s IT systems, telephone, and other communications systems.  The successful candidate will have an important role helping design and implement IT policies, ensuring compliance by users with relevant rules and best practice, ensuring business resilience and continuity, regular maintenance and repairs and developing IT skills of staff and how they can best use the technology to improve business outcomes.

40% of the role will be for Management (Procurement & Contract, Asset/Estate Management, Logistics and Payments Schedule) related activities.

The British Embassy also provides a shared services platform for a number of different government departments and is governed by a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).  The successful candidate will need to oversee the delivery of the MOU, in the IT systems, telephone and communication systems across different government department.

The successful candidate will need to have good analytical, interpersonal skills, possesses customer services mind-set and be open to helping, supporting colleagues and answering questions they may have.  Salary cited is indicative, depending on candidate’s qualification and experience.

Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?:

60% will be focusing on:

- Design and implement all IT, telephony and video conference policies for the Indonesia Network leading on communication and operational implementation with colleagues in the region and London.
- Lead Indonesia contact for users of the UK Government’s main computer system in Indonesia, working with users and the central helpdesk to prioritise and respond to requests for help and resolve any issues with the full range official computer, telephone or video conference systems.
- Providing policy advice and leading on implementing them to ensure resilience and business continuity, including the coordination, coaching and tasking of two Deputy IT Support Officers.
- Ensuring compliance of users with relevant operational and security rules and procedures.
- Working as part of the Security Team within the Embassy to ensure IT assets are secure. 
- Lead of IT change management programme devising and implementing the change in IT and processes we will use to develop smarter working.
- Training and mentoring staff on how to best utilise computer, telephony and VTC systems.
- Maintaining inventories and ensuring Security Operating Procedures are understood and enacted.  
- Making effective use of IT budgets including prioritisation and procurement.
- Other associated activities as required.

40% of the role will be to:
• IT team management.
• Ensure that Regional Asia Pacific Hub team receive the correct documentation for Procurement related matters, including details of payments made for invoices, Supplier forms, payment requests, and assist with any queries.
• Ensure Contract Management at the Embassy is managed appropriately.
• Working closely with Facility Management Unit to ensure the delivery quality and measure impact on overall budget.
• Supporting Business/Finance Manager with Payment Schedule.

 

 

-       Strong IT skills (networking, hardware and services) and experience in IT support, with particular emphasis on computers but telephony and VTC technology.

-       Related working experience for a min of 5 years.

-       Ability to work with minimum supervision.

-       Must be able to travel for short period to different locations.

-       Excellent problem solving and customer service skills.

-       Flexibility, personal resilience and capable of solving problems.

-       Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

-       A minimum of IELTS 6.5 overall (and a minimum of 6 per band).  This requirement can be waived if you have been working for English speaking organisation for a minimum of 2 years or graduated from English speaking university (at least 2 years course).

-       Experience in managing a team.

-       Postgraduate degree (Master or above).
