  • Responsible for managing and providing support to the Embassy IT infrastructure.  Assist staff where possible on IT problems and offer technical advice. (80%). 
  • Work closely with and support the wider Corporate Services Team on other (non-IT) areas of work when required (20%).

    Roles and responsibilities:

Systems Support (70%)

  • Carry out day-to-day IT support services within the British Embassy.
  • Manage standalone and networked system equipment.
  • Manage user accounts (Create, transfer and remove etc). 
  • Assist on the implementation of IT Business Continuity Plan (BCP)
  • Liaise with UK service desks 
  • Oversee landline, mobile and internet contracts ensuring correct invoicing and value for money is obtained. 

IT Procurement and Inventory (10%)

  • Maintain an up-to-date inventory of all IT equipment.
  • Assist on the procurement of equipment.

Other corporate tasks (20%)

  • Assist colleagues with other (non-IT) corporate work as required
  • Experience working with IT hardware and software systems. 
  • Experience in fixing IT faults and maintaining IT related equipment. 
  • Experience in managing IT systems.  
  • Ability to work as part of a team and independently. 
  • Ability to be well organised with attention to detail and follow through tasks, to communicate well to staff colleagues and to service providers.  
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills. 
  • Strong customer service focus. 
  • College or degree qualification in IT, telecommunications or related technical systems.  
  • Previous experience working in a foreign diplomatic mission or an international organisation

Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary, e.g. some non-local national staff and some spouses or partners of UK diplomatic staff, will have their salaries abated by an equivalent amount.   
    
Appointable candidates who were unsuccessful may be placed on a ‘reserve list. If during the reserve period of 6 months the same or largely similar role becomes available, that role may be offered to the second of subsequent candidate.
