View Vacancy - DCS Commercial Officer
Main purpose of job:
As part of the Direct Commercial Sales (DCS) section of the United Kingdom Defence Procurement Office (UKDPO), the job is to provide commercial advice, support and management to a wide range of stakeholders on the procurement process. The job entails conducting contract management and contract initiation activities on behalf of the UK MoD by procuring goods and services, in addition sourcing and managing contracts in support of the North America footprint.
Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve?
- To negotiate, place and manage contracts for North America and UK requirements within personal delegation (circa $250K). Take the lead from a commercial perspective through the acquisition cycle to contract award, and management throughout the duration of the contract.
- Conduct effective contract management activities, to include: holding contractors to account by analysing contractor’s performance via Key Performance Indicators; enforcing Terms and Conditions of the Contract; and attending and actively contributing to Performance review meetings.
- Line management responsibilities for 1 x Commercial Co-ord, including support, joint working, work delegation/planning, reporting, and training and development, in accordance with leadership from the Commercial Manager.
- Management of invoice process via the Oracle e-tool O11i, processing payments in accordance with contract conditions.
- Providing commercial advice, guidance and assurance to UK and US based sponsors. Specifically providing in-country specialised support on US Acquisition to UK MOD Project Teams.
- Conduct contract administrative activities that include: contract filing; electronic record keeping; producing adhoc management information reports.
Key support in assisting DCS Commercial Manager in the delivery of commercial outputs in support of the UK MOD & NA footprint.

Line Management responsibility of one member of staff (A2).
Essential on arrival:
- 3-5 years of commercial experience, if possible within a procurement/acquisition/legal environment.
- Strong written, oral and interpersonal skills
- Proficient with Microsoft windows tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, outlook)
Desirable:
- Applicant to be Degree educated, preferably job relevant.
- Experience of Oracle based e-tools.
- Knowledge or previous experience of working for or within a foreign government.
- Knowledge or previous experience of working as a Line Manager.
