Residence Coordinator

The successful candidate will provide quality support in the running of HM Ambassador’s residence.  This role is central to the smooth running of key diplomatic events including dinners, lunches and receptions for VIP guests.

Duties and Responsibilities

Cleaning

  • Clean private areas and guest suites of HMA’s Residence and other areas as directed by Chief Steward and the Ambassador.
  • Dust and polish furniture. Vacuum and polish floors. Clean bathrooms.
  • Prepare guest bedrooms and bathrooms as required.

Laundry

  • Wash and iron laundry to a high standard.
  • Keep linen cupboards tidy and that linen and towels are ready for guest bedroom and bathroom as required and ensure that table linen is ready for Residence functions.

Serving and waiting

  • Welcome guests
  • Serve and wait at table, under guidance from Chief Steward and Chef.
  • Serve drinks and canapés at receptions.
  • Assist Chief Steward in preparing for and clearing up after events.
  • Help manage extra staff at events.

Other:

  • Keep a record of food and drink consumed at events.
  • Provide additional support to Chief Steward, Chef and Events & Visits Officer as required, to ensure smooth running of the Residence.
  • Cover the duties of Chief Steward in her absence

A non-negotiable monthly salary package of 330 BHD as well as private medical insurance, a leave entitlement and training package. Specific training and mentoring for the role will be provided for the successful candidate.  This may include training in London and the region.   

Flexibility will be required on the working hours, including providing leave cover, but the usual working pattern will be Sunday to Thursday 0730 – 1430.

No accommodation or relocation expenses are payable in connection with this position.

The successful candidate will be subject to a 3 month probationary period and will need to commence security clearance procedures through the Embassy as soon as possible. Employment offers are subject to successful clearance of pre-employment checks.

Process

The recruitment process, including security clearance, is expected to take around two months.

The start date mentioned in the job advert is a tentative start date and the successful candidate will be required to undergo security vetting procedures. Any offer of employment will be subject to the candidate achieving suitable clearances.
