View Vacancy - Post Security and Transport Manager (B3 EE) (ESP18.743)
The British Embassy in Madrid is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and we are seeking to recruit a Post Security and Transport Manager (PSM) in order to comply with the requisite provision of Duty of Care to all Embassy and consulate staff, UK-Based families, visitors and contractors on our premises. The PSM’s main purpose is to monitor the threat, supervise the guarding, co-ordinate security clearances and provide professional advice on physical security matters.
In more detail, main duties and responsibilities will include:
- Prepare reports on matters of security interest, including incident returns to Estates and Security Directorate;
- Provide general advice on physical and procedural security and implementation of States of Vigilance;
- Train and supervise the locally engaged guards and reception staff;
- Oversee control of access arrangements and tests of the local emergency radio and satellite phones;
- Conduct periodic patrols, security checks, practices of emergency response drills and security clearence processes for new arrivals at the Embassy;
- Liaise with the Police Diplomatic Protection Branch and with the security staff at other friendly Missions;
- Account for, be able to operate and arrange maintenance of security equipment (e.g, metal detector arches, X-ray scanner);
- Report and record any breaches of security and investigate and report any security related incidents;
- Act as Embassy Fire Officer and be part of Crisis Management committee member.
- Fluency in English and Spanish (both oral and written);
- Excellent organisational, communication and team working skills;
- Interpersonal skills;
- Strong eye for detail;
- Experience in security management;
- Line Management experience;
- Time management and prioritising tasks skills;
- Budget management and risk assessment experience.
- Experience in physical security.
This is a full-time permanent contract. Working hours per week are 37.5.
The successful candidate will be subject to a confirmation of a background check and security clearance.
The successful candidate will be enrolled in the Spanish Social Security Scheme and will therefore not be entitled to any gratuity from the Embassy / Consulate based on gross annual salary.
The British Embassy is a Diplomatic Mission with tax exempt status and does not collect taxes for other States. Employees are fully responsible for payment of Spanish income tax at the legally required rate. Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in Spain are subject to terms and conditions of service according to local Spanish employment law.
Visa / passport requirements: must currently hold the independent right to live and work in Spain and be prepared to ensure that right remains throughout the scope of the contract.
