View Vacancy - Human Resources Recruiting Intern
The British Embassy department of Human Resources is seeking a talented student for the summer 2016 internship program. This is a wonderful opportunity for an enthusiastic, detail oriented student who is looking to gain experience in a fast paced HR environment.
The Human Resources Internship will provide the successful candidate with experience in the following areas: Staffing Administration (HR Generalist and Recruiting team), Employee Relations, Equal Employment Opportunity/Diversity, Employee Communications, and other ongoing HR initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive support to the Embassy Internship Program, including: posting open positions, screening resumes, conducting phone interviews, scheduling interviews, extending offers, and performing security checks.
- Complete paperwork for arrivals and departures.
- Coordinate and organize recruitment filing and assist with record retention.
- Provide extensive support for the planning and execution of key HR employee programs (e.g. Induction, Mentoring and Manager Training Programmes).
- Work effectively within the HR team and at all levels of management in different departments across multiple locations in the continental United States.
- Assist with communicating best practices with Staff across Embassy and the US Network.
- Conduct internet research as needed on HR legislation and regulations, employee programs, etc.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Must be a junior or a senior in an undergraduate program, or enrolled in a graduate program by the start date of your internship (least 60 credit hours of undergraduate coursework completed). Since this is an unpaid internship, students receiving college credit in exchange for their internships are preferred.
- An interest in Human Resources or related field.
- Extremely proficient in all MS Office applications. SharePoint experience preferred.
- Experience using an Applicant Tracking System a plus.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as time management, presentation, and organizational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to deal effectively with all levels of employees and management.
- Willingness and ability to be flexible in all situations.
This program offers internships for 20-30 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters, and 40 hours per week during the summer.
Under US State Department requirements, the Embassy may only employ, as non-diplomatic staff, persons who are US citizens, US Green Card holders, A or J1 Visa holders with Valid Work Authorization document. If you hold a Visa other than an A or J1 Visa you are not currently eligible to work at the Embassy. All candidates will be subject to background checks and security clearance.
