Main purpose of job:

Reporting directly to the Information Technology Support Officer (ITSO).  The jobholder is to provide IT support for all KL British High Commission (BHC) staffs to ensure availability of all features of the office IT system, including telephony systems. Ensure the office operation runs smoothly and help users resolve IT related issues.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • First line support for IT related problems faced by office staffs  before escalating to the Help Desk for further investigation.
  • Maintain the office IT system to ensure maximum availability of the KL BHC IT infrastructure and services.
  • Maintain office PC equipments, including PCs, desktops, printers, laptops, office phones, switches, routers and video conferencing system.
  • Manage user accounts, shared folder access permissions and email distribution lists.  Log in to admin account to unlock/reset user passwords.
  • Update IT inventory and manage IT loan log book.
  • Provide IT briefings to new staff members on office IT systems, security procedures and potential breaches.
  • To rebuild, repair and replace faulty equipments.
  • To assist & collaborate on IT projects, such as projects to refurbish all desktop PCs & laptops for staffs.
  • Responsible for the IT support mailbox, check emails daily and action accordingly.
  • Monthly replacement of backup tapes and maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot, identify and solve minor IT problems within the office. E.g. paper jam, power and data cable not connected properly.
  • Identify general or recurring problems and report to the ITSO.

 

  • At least 1 year of working experience in IT as a technical support person / IT technical knowledge skills.
  • Experienced in basic troubleshooting of network, office desktop and software.
  • Good communication skills (written and oral) in English.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft products.
  • Ability to manage deliverables.
  • Ability to provide effective service in a diverse and unpredictable environment
  • A self starter who can work flexibly on his/her own initiative.
  • Some knowlegde and use of office telephony systems and video conferencing systems.
  • Hardworking, positive thinking, fast learner, strong interpersonal skill.
  • Committed to work and willing to learn new skills.
  • A flexible and proactive approach
