Applications are invited for the position of Project Support Officer at the British Consulate General in Sydney for a fixed-term contract of five months.

The Project Support Officer is responsible for contributing to and supporting the commercial outcomes of the DIT ANZ Network through developing high quality market intelligence, collateral and research reports on a broad range of sectors and industries within the Australian and New Zealand markets.  The Project Support Officer is also responsible for supporting the Strategic Value Team through administrative assistance and event support as required.

The Project Support Officer will be responsible for collaborating with DIT teams across the Australian and New Zealand Networks to gather and synthesis information in order to produce accurate and high quality market intelligence sector reports to identify market trends, opportunities and general doing business advice for UK companies interested in internationalising into the Australian and/or New Zealand market.

Analyze industry information from a range of sources to identify relevant and accurate sector intelligence and produce succinct and concise industry reports, tailored to different audiences.  

Work collaboratively with the Marcoms Team to develop appropriate and aesthetic research report tool kits and ensure consistency across all sector and industry reports.

Develop and maintain relevant professional working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including industry associations and the Australian British Chamber of Commerce. 

The successful candidate will demonstrate experience with high level research and analysis with the capacity to collate and synthesis information for a wide variety of sources and tailor information to diverse audiences. Demonstrated experience with producing succinct, concise and audience appropriated reports is essential. The candidate will also demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills and the capacity to build and maintain productive working relationships with range of internal and external stakeholders. The candidate will have the capacity to work collaboratively within a team but also demonstrate the ability to produce work autonomously. A high level of organisational skills with ability to work at pace to achieve results is essential. Competency and experience with Microsoft Office Suite.  

Experience with research intelligence tools, such as IBISWorld.

Salary is at AU$62,473  per annum (paid out monthly), plus 11% superannuation.

Initial appointment is for 5 months. The formal job description may be subject to amendment in the future.

Appointment is subject to an AFP records check and UK security clearance.

Open to Australian citizens, permanent residents, and partners/ dependents of UK-based diplomatic staff currently posted in Australia.

Staff recruited locally by the British High Commission and its Consulates is subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local Australian employment law.
