The British Embassy in Czech Republic is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking for two Security Guards based in Prague.

The selected candidate will be responsible for maintaining security at the Embassy, dealing with customers in person, assisting distressed British Nationals and visitors to the Consular Section and providing first-line assistance to callers to the Embassy who require one of our services.

 

Main Duties / Responsibilities

  • Control access to the building and receive visitors both on foot and in vehicles;
  • Monitor the security and general safety of the Embassy/Residence;
  • Ensure visitors to the Consular Section are welcomed and directed politely and efficiently through all necessary security checks;
  • Monitor and manage CCTV and alarm systems throughout the Embassy/Residence;
  • Report incidents, visitors and vehicles entering the Embassy/Residence in a timely and accurate manner by defined tools;
  • Escort visitors/guests in and around the Embassy/Residence when required, issue appropriate visitors badges;
  • Receive and sign for delivery of post and packages from the Czech Post Office and courier services to ensure relevant security checks such as x-ray and visual checks are carried out;
  • Provide security of events taking place in the Embassy/Residence;
  • Manage emergency systems and equipment and check CCTV footage from previous night shift;
  • Maintain day to day checks of the fire alarm, keep a log book and liaise with FM services provider when necessary;
  • Act as a contact person for Diplomatic Police and liaise with Czech Police as and when necessary;
  • Reset or restart the Embassy CCTV system as and when required during working hours.
  • A reasonable level in written and spoken English and Czech;
  • Good communication skills;
  • Experience of working in a customer-facing environment, strong customer focus;
  • Adaptability and a positive mindset towards working as a part of a broader team;
  • Flexibility and desire to get things done;
  • Basic computer literacy (MS Office basics, emails, internet).

 

  • Previous experience as a security guard is an advantage.

Terms and Conditions

This is a full-time position, requiring 12 hrs shift working including weekends and public holidays, as the gatehouse needs to be manned 24/7. Weekly working hours will be scheduled by the Employer unevenly, whereas the average weekly working hours of the Employee should not exceed 37.5 hours per each period of 26 consecutive weeks.

This is a vacancy for employment of 2 years initially on contract, and can be extended by mutual agreement.

The monthly salary is 27,370 CZK (gross). In addition, staff receive 1,200 CZK in meal vouchers.

The successful candidate will be subject to professional background check and security clearance. The successful candidate must have pre-existing work authorisation for the Czech Republic in order to apply.

Staff recruited locally by the British Embassy in Czech Republic are subject to Terms and Conditions of Service according to local Czech Republic employment law.
