Main purpose of job:  

The successful candidate will join the Security Team at the British Embassy in Mexico City. He/she will work directly to the Post Security Manager (PSM) and have regular contact with the Regional Overseas Security Manager (ROSM), to manage and support all aspects of security of the Embassy and official Ambassador’s residence in Mexico City.


Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve

He/she will be responsible to ensure that the Embassy is functioning efficiently, effectively and within the correct guidelines set by the Estates and Security Directorate in London. This includes daily security reports, close liaison with the local authorities, security checks of staff apartments, monitor CCTV system, security for big events and management of a sizeable locally contracted guard force.

The successful candidate will be required to undertake occasional travel within Mexico for Ambassador/VIP visits

  • Working in a demanding environment with an ability to solve fast-moving problems.
  • He/she must be a self-starter with the ability to work on their own.
  • He/she must be able to work flexibly to meet ever changing needs. They must also be able to work during the weekends and Public Holidays
  • He/she must be able to speak and write English and Spanish fluently, and demonstrate good drafting skills.
  • He/she must be proficient in Windows Vista, Microsoft Office and internet-based applications.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • He/she must have experience in supervising groups
  • Working within government department desirable.
  • Investigation and/or interviewing skills
