Main purpose of job
The British Embassy Buenos Aires is recruiting an intern to join the Embassy’s Department for Business and Trade team. The intern would take up a challenging role to provide analytical and administrative support to Argentina’s Trade Team, with a focus in the infrastructure and security sectors.
The internship will take place between June 2023 and May 2024 (depending on the starting date, for 12 months).
Roles and responsibilities:
- Analytical: market research in the infrastructure and security sectors, and identification of export opportunities for UK companies in the market.
- Administrative: help deliver events and visit programmes; update Client Relationship Management (CRM) system; provide support in activities such as meetings, reports, briefings and finance amongst others.
Essential on arrival:
- The intern must be enrolled in a university/college undergraduate programme that will allow them to participate in an internship “practica profesional” for up to 18 months, in the areas of International Trade, Economics, International Relations, Political Science, Engineering or any-related studies.
- Have a proactive attitude to support in the different tasks that will be appointed for, and pay attention to details without losing sight of the general objectives.
Language requirements:
Language: Fluent in Spanish / English
Level of language required: Working level
The ideal candidate would have previous experience and/or knowledge in market research, reporting/presenting results, and database management.
Sector knowledge in infrastructure (Railways, Water, Construction, Ports) and/or urban security are desirable.
Working patterns:
Embassy working hours are 9am to 5:30pm. Intern will work 4 hours per day with flexibility within Embassy hours
Must have the legal status to live and work in Argentina. Employees who are not liable to pay local income tax on their Mission salary, eg some non-local national staff and some spouses or partners of UK diplomatic staff, will have their salaries abated by an equivalent amount.
The British Embassy has an active L&D Committee and offers a wide range of in-house training and funding for external training on policy and programme work.
