The British Embassy in Vilnius is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is now looking for an energetic finance professional who wants to advance his/her accounting and finance-partnering skills within the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) by joining the Regional Finance Hub team in Vilnius. The Financial Cluster Lead will monitor the operational delivery of key financial activity for British Embassies, High Commissions and other Offices located in the region. The role of the Regional Finance Hub is to provide key financial services to customers across the region and support the organisation to deliver its objectives. The role reports to the Regional Finance Manager within the region.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor and process budgeting, forecasting and reporting (including exception reporting) for a range of offices in the region;
- Act as the first line of financial support and compliance.
- Ensure financial management indicators are robust and issues resolved appropriately within agreed timescales;
- Liaise with individual Embassies and Finance Business Partners in the UK and consolidate information across a region to monitor trends and variances;
- Ensure consistency across all processes, both within the region and across other regional hubs;
- Take part in reviewing and improving processes & related guidance; ad hoc financial management, reporting related tasks and occasional project work.
- University-level degree in Finance, Accountancy, Economics or Business Management;
- Fluent level of English, both oral and written;
- Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant qualified experience as accountant, bookkeeper, financial analyst or similar;
- IT literate to an advanced level;
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, customer service experience;
- Strategic focus and ability to work proactively;
- Availability to travel to the UK and other countries.
This is a full-time temporary position. The estimated duration is 9 months.
The British Embassy in Vilnius has a strong ethos of Learning and Development, including our Learning and Development Week. This is in addition to the induction programme offered to all Embassy staff.
*Moreover, the successful candidate will be entitled to a Professional Qualification Allowance (PQA) on top of base salary, should they meet certain criteria on experience and professional qualifications.
The Embassy offers also a competitive private medical scheme and a sports allowance of approximately €400 per year (before tax).
We are working towards 1st September for the job holder to start, however, the successful candidate will be expected to start as soon as possible.
The successful candidate will be subject to professional background check and security clearance.
