To provide administrative support to Climate and Environment team at the British Embassy.
What will the jobholder be expected to achieve?
This is a challenging position within the Climate and Environment team at the British Embassy in Brasilia. The Climate and Environment team foster collaboration between Brazil and the UK through high-level visits, missions and programmes. The UK International Climate Finance currently has over £150 million invested in Brazil in programmes focused on forestry, low carbon agriculture, sustainable infrastructure and cities. We are a team of 4 people working across Brazil, based in Brasilia, Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo.
The British Embassy invites applications from students in at least their 2nd year. The candidate should ideally be studying Political Science, Law, Economics, Environmental Studies or related disciplines.
The successful candidate will:
- Provide research and administrative support to the Climate and Environment team, and more broadly to the Brazil Network.
- Provide support for projects and events. Responsibilities include arranging meetings, booking venues, setting up events (e.g. branding, catering), coordinating mailing lists, sending and following up on invitations, etc.
- Provide support on policy monitoring. Responsibilities include writing briefs on local government/stakeholders, monitoring political news.
- Assist in the ad hoc organisation of visits to and from the UK and Brazil, including arranging logistics around accommodation, transport, and support on briefing packs and meetings.
- Occasionally attend events or conferences (within working hours) and write reports on them for colleagues.
Essential on arrival:
- Must be a 2nd or 3rd year student in Political Science, Law, Economics, Environmental Science or other related disciplines.
- Good IT skills, in particular the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must be proactive with strong organisational, communication, customer service, and team-working skills.
- Excellent command of English and Portuguese (written and spoken)
- An interest in climate and environmental issues.
Desirable:
- Previous experience with climate/environment research and written reports would be an advantage.

Working patterns:
Monday to Friday: 30 hours per week / 6 hours per day during British Embassy core working hours (Monday to Thursday 08:30-16:45, Friday 08:30-16:30).
