Main purpose of job:

 

The BDSUS Personnel Administration team provides administrative support to ensure BDSUS personnel can Defend the UK and its interests by strengthening the trans-Atlantic defence and security relationship.  The HR Administrative Assistant supports the professional output of the team by undertaking routine, non-customer facing tasks on behalf of the team. Where appropriate they also undertake routine processes within team workflows.



Roles and responsibilities: 


Support military Subject Matter Experts (SME) in dealing with policy questions on pay and allowances, processing where appropriate and escalating to the appropriate SME where required.

 

Support Pers Admin Team professional outputs by: -


  • Identifying out of date information on the BDSUS Information Portal and referring to the correct sponsor.
  • Submitting stationary returns on behalf of the team as required.
  • Act as team lead mail signatory.
  • Help maintain internal HR records including digitisation and destruction as directed by Mil SMEs.
  • Processing routine JPA input and amendments under direction of Mil SMEs.

 

Support the arrival and departure process of UK personnel posted to the US as directed by Mil SMEs.

 

Contribute to the development of a continuous improvement culture in the section recommending ways to improve service delivery where appropriate.

 

Support wider Embassy and Defence Staff cross-functional initiatives.


Essential on arrival:


Relevant work experience or bachelor’s degree


Ability to work with databases and software


Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as time management skills


Ability to multi task with strong organisational skills


Ability to handle confidential employee issues/information and with employees in a friendly sand sensitive manner


Mist be able to work independently and as a part of team


Proficient in all MS Office applications, specifically Word, Excel and PowerPoint
