The British Embassy in Spain is part of a world-wide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas and is looking to recruit a Regional Prevention Support Officer for the EuroAsia and Europe South Consular Networks.

The position is based at the British Consulate Alicante, but other Consular locations in Spain will be considered. See Additional Information below for more details.

Our prevention activity aims to help British people stay safer overseas. We approach this in three ways:

  • Preventing incidents from happening. For example, working with partners and local stakeholders to help reduce the risk of balcony and walkway falls
  • Preventing incidents from getting worse when they do happen. For example, projects working with local police or hospitals to help them improve the support they offer to survivors of rape or sexual assault
  • Helping people take responsibility for their own safety. For example encouraging people to take out comprehensive travel insurance when they go abroad or registering as resident with host country authorities.

You will work closely with the Regional Prevention Adviser for EuroAsia and Europe South and prevention champions at posts across the region, as well as colleagues in the UK and around the world when needed.
